Day 1: With a little time off yesterday I ran to my local japanese market, purchased my wakame, seaweed, fruits and veges, blew the cobwebs off my jar of organic coconut oil, researched coconut oil for hours, ingested coconut oil at every meal, would up sitting here naked with it slathered on my face and hair. I think you guys might be impressed with my raw concoctions. I certainly have never eaten such gourmet food before. SADly (interesting take on SAD) I squeezed in an ice cream. Symptoms: runny nose (wasn't sick before) and caught myself saying 'ooga ooga' a couple of times...hopefully that symptom will pass!

Day 2: woke up excited, ate raw all day, ice cream craving hit again, so I decided to walk the 10 blocks to get it, ate raw rest of the day...hopefully the coconut oil will take away the sugar cravings eventually. Feel so full I can't eat all the food. Symptoms: nose running again at the same time of day, feeling surprisingly calm

Summary: One thing that makes me very happy is not having to clean that damn hard crusted oatmeal cup after breakfast. I don't like to cook anyway, it takes too long, I like to zap. No more wasting time zapping, now I just 'chop n' chew'. Since January I've tried bodyforlife.com, L.A. Weight Loss and at every turn I am noticing this is a natural fit. I don't have to go out of my way to do anything, it's been staring me in the face all this time. My friend of many years whom I thought was nuts for going raw was so patient with me, she was right all this time, can you imagine...I was concerned for her, what a joke! Now I'm swapping raw recipes with her. Confuscious say: 'must have patience with friends for the 'rawight' reasons'. I've decided to begin by doing this 75% and not beat myself up over anything, just do the best I can do until I can do better. Just doing this for preventative reasons and to drop a couple pounds that I can't seem to get off any other way. Will eat up your advice HA HA!

Also, what about tea? and obviously, what is a good substitute for ice cream?

Congratulations on your journey. Some people drink tea and some don't. Those that do usually just heat it to lukewarm. Also just do a search for ice cream on this site, there are plenty of recipes.

Welcome! You can make a wonderful ice cream with frozen bananas in the food processor. Just add some agave to sweeten, a handful of walnuts, & some vanilla and you won't go back to regular SAD ice cream again! ;)

Welcome!
May I suggest two words:

GREEN SMOOTHIES

They really kick cravings in the backside, give one tons (hey Revvell I said THAT) of energy, are filling, easy cleanup, get a lot of food at one time that's broken down ready for your body to digest - well, they are just miraculous drinks. Perfect compliment to a raw diet.
