Does any one have a recipe for 1000 Island dressing? I love this dressing but can't figure out how to make it raw...

I havent tried this myself but let me know what you think about it:

Thousand Island Dressing
2 red bell peppers
2 tomatoes
1 c. celery, chopped
1/2 c. pine nuts, soaked 2 hours
1/2 c. sunflower seeds, soaked 6-8 hours and rinsed
1/2 c. fresh parsley
1/2-1 c. water
4 TBS. lemon juice
1 tsp. sea salt
Blend in blender until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasonings to taste

My local paper ran the recipe for regulat Thousand Island dressing today, and it was mayo, pickles and chili sauce. I bet you could do hald ketchup, half mayo from the recipes in the condiments thread & add a little cayenne pepper & pickle.

Sounds like a good quest.

Thousand Island dressing is primarily mayo and ketchup with relish added--usually paprika and lemon juice to tweak the flavor.

Maybe make a smaller quantity of one of the mayo recipes listed on the site and possibly soak sun-dried tomatoes and food process them with agave to replicate the ketchup. Bubbies or other sour pickles could be pickles, but don't know how to get them sweet like pickle relish would be. Maybe rinse and soak in a sweetener. Don't know if any of this is a help. Maybe just too much science.

thanks for sharing this recipie. It looks like it would taste like the real thing.

Ill give it a whirl. I like the milder type dressings anyway.

We used to make the sad version with pickle relish, onion, ketchup and mayo, too. Seems like it would be quite simple to duplicate.
