Hello Everyone,
I have been lurking on the boards, and recently decided to jump on board :D
What is the first thing you should do when going raw? So I detox first or just do the green smoothies?
Also can you tell me what food combining.
I also just ordered the Alissa's book and DVD. I can't wait till get them.

You have done one of the First things you should do.....getting something to read and guide you in this process. Detox Will happen if you are RAW. Detox is a Natural Process that happens when you put Good Things in and your Body will rid itself of poisions.
There are Books written about Food Combining because that is how Techinical it can be. There are so many do's and don't depending on what you want to achieve.

Some cool things to do when first going raw:
- If there are no other SAD eaters in your home, collect all the packaged non-raw "food" and donate it to your local food bank. Get all the temptations out of the house until you get over the "hump".
- Stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Good you got Alissa's book and DVD. I'd suggest reading some other raw food books/articles as well.
- Write down your "Raw Food" goal on paper or type it into your computer. Review this goal daily. List the reasons/benefits for why you're doing this goal. List the people/places you need to work with. List the obstacles you'll need to overcome. Develop a game plan.

I am fairly new to raw myself. I think you just start. Some people are jumping in with both feet (30 day Raw Challenge) and others, like me, are wading in a foot at a time. I drink a smoothie for breakfast. That is a good way to start. Try adding smoothies,veggie juices and a big salad to your daily meals. Experiment with raw recipes that you find here and other places. Don't stress about being totally raw if this is brand new to you. Do the best you can and work up to it. Or jump in with both feet. :D
