Hi,
I am now on my 6th day of raw, about 98% anyway. I am loving eating the very simple foods--green smoothies, salads, marinated veggies, and fruits. But I am looking to next week and thinking that I don't want to get tired of the foods I am eating. So I am strongly considering purchasing Alissa's book now, particularly for the recipes. I am on a very tight budget. While I could make room to purchase Alissa's book, I cannot afford a dehydrator or other equipment right now. I have a great blender, a great knife, and a cutting board, and I need to make do with those things for now. So my question is: are there many recipes in Alissa's book that I can make with my current equipment? I fear that most of them will call for a dehydrator. I know many of you already own the book and I would appreciate any insight!

Sure! I don't have a dehydrator either - just a blender. I've made lots of recipes in her book tha t don't call for one. Some of her recipes call for a food processor, but I find many of them still come out fine using a blender. Others not so much. It's a really good buy. Not just for the recipes but for the other info as well. ;) Hope this helps!

alice,
that would be wonderful if i could just borrow it and send it back! i tried to click to email you but it said you don't allow emails from the board. i went in and changed mine (i think it defaults to not allowing emails) so that you can email me if the offer still stands. thanks!

A lot of recipes don't require a dehydrator.

My basics (if for some strange reason had to get rid of stuff) would be a blender and a good set of knives. You can make so many different types of smoothies, soup, salads, dressings, wraps of various kinds, so many different types of mock dishes such as, "egg" and "tuna" salads and so many deserts w/o a dehydrator. I like my dehydrator for crackers, chips and other treats, but my bare bones basic equipment would be the blender and knives.

so far i have realized i don't spend much more money than eating cooked food. I don't have a dehydrator and am planning to make some dishes which would require it- but i am going to use the oven.. There are ways to stay raw happily without too many expenses.... so far my little "trick" has been buying sunflower seeds instead of nuts- a lot cheaper
