View Full Version : dizzy fasting?

I need some opinions. Normally, I would just listen to my body, but my body is telling me strange things! :confused:

Today is day 6 of my juice fast. It's gone well, but each day I'm getting lightheaded and it's getting worse. I have LBP when I don't get enough salt, I've had this problem before, although not this bad. I've tried adding salt to my veggi juice, but it's not working.

My problem is I don't know if this is some form of detox or if I'm depleting myself of something (salt?) and I'm in danger here. I get lightheaded and dizzy every time I stand up and start to walk. Enough that I usually have to steady myself on something and wait until it clears after a few seconds.

I've had a wide variety of juices, including tons of different fruits and lots of veggies and greens. Should I stop my fast? I was only planning on doing a week, I have a pretty clean raw diet when I'm not fasting...

I'm just unsure what to think?

hi rm , ive done around 15 fast from 3 to 20 days . some both water and juice , some only water . and initially i got light headed alot , ecspecially when getting up from a kneeling posistion . but after several fast this got lesser and lesser til barely . and from reading ive found its common , and ive read alot of very experienced fasters say you just have to focus through it . my attitude became that 1 or 5 fast arent gonna be a cure all , its rather a long term / life habit in order to derrive great benefit . thusly on my early fast i wouldnt get dead set on pushing it super far , and rather just decided no big deal if the lightheadedness is concerning me too much - i'll just end the fast and next time i'll be able to go further . its like getting in shape .
and 4 me on all water fast i found the sugar in fruit juices cleared this up , so ide go 2 - 3 days all water , then if got feeling weak juice fruit . hope this helps . ps - my favorite fasting music = fleetwood macs greatest hits :) (its relaxing)

Yes, I'm considering fasting for about a week at least 4 times a year (solstices & equinoxes) so I want this to be a continuous thing. I guess it won't be the end of the world if I finish up today and eat something tomorrow if the lightheadedness continues to get worse. Hopefully it will get better and better each time I fast, as it did for you! :)

Juice celery with your veggies. Celery has loads of natural sodium. Maybe you are not taking in enough juice too.

I was juicing celery, but maybe not enough. I'll try that next fast. I broke my fast and I'll be doing another on the autumnal equinox next month. What I usually have is 3 glasses a day. 2 fruit & 1 veggi. That usually fills me up, they are pretty big glasses/mugs.

I would try spreading it out more and have about 6 (8oz) glasses a day. 3 glasses isn't very much even if they are big glasses.
