I made some sesame milk yesterday with some left over young coconut and a dash of raw cacao. I also used the black sesame seeds which makes it look more like chocolate milk then added it to some frozen bananas for an afternoon shake. Good stuff!

Just wanted to share. ;)

Bumping it up hoping someone knowledgable will catch this.

Do I want to use hulled or unhulled seseame seeds for milk or does it not matter?

And should I soak 'em?
thanks

You can use hulled or not, as you're gonna have to strain it anyways :)

And I think soaking is always better, but it doesn't reeeally matter if you don't.

I didn't soak my seeds but I blended them finely in my coffee bean grinder.

The unhulled seeds have more calcium but it is also in the form of oxalates so some think you're not absorbing as much calcium. The hulled can go rancid rather quickly so maybe if there is a quality source for them. The store I go to, keeps the hulled ones in a bin so it's hard to say how long they've been sitting in there. If you do find a good source for the hulled you should refrigerate.
