So yesterday was my first day of going raw, and I already feel a difference. I slept soooo well last night, and hadn't in an incredibly long time. I haven't purchased Alissa's book yet, but I did buy another book a few days ago. In it it describes how you shouldn't combine certain foods with one another. For example, if you're going to eat fresh veggies and pair it with nuts or seeds or dried fruit, you should wait at least 3 to 4 hours before consuming a different food category--such as pairing veggies with a starch like a sweet potato. It also explains that you shouldn't pair fruit with anything, and it's best to eat it on an empty stomach because if put on top of veggies or another food group, it just ferments in the stomach. is this the plan all of you follow, as well?

I'm so glad you are trying raw food! You will love it. I don't really pay too much attention to food combining. I almost always eat melons on an empty stomch because they digest the fastest out of all fruit, and for the most part I try to eat fruit alone. But I don't pay to much attention to it. It feels like too much work to always have to macke sure you are combing your food correctly. If your hungry and you want to eat it and it's raw then you shoud. Especially at the begining to worry about that stuff. It will come naturally later once you are more farmiliar with raw food.

I agree. And the funny thing is you'll hear someone going on and on about proper food combining, then they'll provide a recipe breaking all of their own rules. My advice for now...eat what sounds good then notice how it makes you feel. And perhaps journal what you're consuming, so you can see if patterns/allergies emerge. (example: I get puffy hands the day after I eat braggs)

beppa... do you actually get puffy hands after eating braggs?!
im trying to be better with food combining.
i was getting some pretty awful gas buildup. lovely, i know!
when youre starting raw though just focus on BEING RAW....... dont stress too much on the details, you can finetune it once eating only raw foods becomes easy, and a lifestyle for you.

YEP. EVERY TIME. I usually go up a pound too. (That's why the journal has been so helpful)

Here is my take on food combining. Kristi7mark and I get questioned about food combining at least once per week.
When you are raw, you become more in touch with your body and notice if something is not working for you. Food combining works for some but others do not notice a difference when trying it. I have tried it and it does not make a difference if I follow the rules or not if I am eating pure foods. What does bother me is if I get a chemical mayo on a dish at our pot luck. Every month, I go home from potluck with a headache and I know it's from something non raw/vegan that has been added to the food. I know this because it's the same headache I get when I cheat;)
So, you have to do what's right for you. It's hard enough to stay raw in the beginning. I would work on one thing at a time.
