View Full Version : Rash? Hives? Detox?

I have broken out with what would seem like a rash except the red itchy skin is not concentrated to one spot. I have spots around my midsection and chest and a few on my arms. At first I thought insect bites but it doesn't look like a bite. More like an allergic reaction except I haven't changed anything in my sorroundings. Could this be a detox issue? I understand no one can really give me a diagnosis but has this happened to anyone else? I am going to have to take some benadryl. I was trying to avoid it but I just took a shower and the warm water made the itching much worse.
Thanks for you input.

i found that a cool bath with baking soda and/or corn starch in the water can help reduce the redness and itching due to hives. I know thazt I get them when I am stressed.

Ah, I didn't think about stress. I took some benadrly last night. It looks much better this morning. I am going to try the corn starch instead of taking more benadryl tonight.

when i first went raw i got bumps and rashes all over my body. they went away after a few weeks. i have a feeling that benadryl may just suppress the symptoms, which isnt what you want. dont quote me oon that though lol. this all happened in detox though, and a lot of the bumps and stuff had been under the surface FOREVER, and just shot through when i went raw. go figure huh

Hi Kelly, Do you keep a food journal? The only reason I ask is that I have experienced some weird side effects from certain foods...do you have any allergies?

Help! I have exactly what the first person wrote but on no where else but my freaking face!!!! All over my cheeks I have what seems to be a rash, it itches like crazy and I want it gone now! I'm used to clear skin all of my life and I'm freaking out! Mine isn't a food allergy, it's definitely detox as this is day 5 of juicing. Any help as far as getting rid of the itch and apperance ofd this and having it not take weeks would be fabulous!!!

beppa66 - I do keep a journal in my blog. I looked it over and I don't think I have eaten anything that I haven't eaten quite a bit of at one time or another. The only other thing I could think of is my natural scrub brush that I use in the shower (I know...gross thought). I rinse it very well after each shower but I decided to quit using it just in case.
Like MorningRuby, I don't know if I can take this for a couple weeks.
Rawsurfer - Thank you for your input. I hope mine is detox. I think it may drive me crazy if it lasts much longer though.
MorningRuby - you poor thing. I can't imagine having an itchy face. If I figure anything out I will let you know.

I have the same thing every time I eat cooked food after being raw. The first time it happened to me I had these HUGE red bumps all over my tummy and chest after I ate SAD cupcakes after being raw for 3 months. I didn't eat cooked for a long time after that! The next time it happened when I ate non-raw olives out of a jar and I had the same HUGE rash all over my stomach.
Now it happens every time I have questionable raw items or plain cooked food. I know it's detox for me. I generally don't do anything to make it go away, except go back to raw. :) I hope this helps? Good luck!

I broke down and put some Aveeno cream of some sort on there that is supposed to dry out everything from rashes to allergy crap to chicken pox. I hope it works! I'm not going to let this stop me from juicing but I definitely couldn't take it for weeks. I wouldn't care if it was anywhere else on my body, but with my luck, it has to be my face. :( Anywho, thanks guys for the support and pretty please remember me if you find anything else at all that helps. Good luck!!!
