RAWisme

Hi Everybody,
I feel so fortunate to have found this site! The support and information offered here is wonderful! I learned about the Raw diet from Kundalini Yoga gurus, Ravi Singh and Ana Brett (http://www.raviana.com/). They list Alissa's site as a valuable resource. I'm glad they did.
Prior to learning about raw, I had considered myself a "health nut". I worked out, preached on the horrors of sugar and processed junk, and took supplements galore. Then I discovered Raw and realized how ignorant I was about health. I felt so in the dark yet thankful for discovering the light!
I've been 100% raw for over three months now. The change in me is unbelievable. Since my divorce 8 years ago, I've needed antidepressents. I stopped taking them cold turkey after being raw for one month. I'm a much happier person since going raw. I feel so much better; it's amazing! I never thought I could feel this good in my own head and body.
My 10 year old daughter and I are currently living with my family and they eat SAD. They don't agree with my diet change and have made it very clear by telling me I'm wrong, obssessive, and setting a bad example for my daughter, and then the physical expressions and rolling of their eyes, etc. Yeah, it's been fun!
Thankfully, I can be thick skinned with certain things (this being one of them) and their negative reaction is humorous to me now. But I'm also realizing that their reaction is the norm. Most of society is still in the dark about health and fear of change seems to be the dominant reaction!
I've recently began the process of transitioning my 10 year old daughter to the raw lifestyle. She's excited but the transition is still a little difficult because of the food she's so used to having. But she's doing her own research on the diet which is really awesome! We've also been experimenting with raw dishes and she's amazed how tasty they are. My family on the other hand are appalled and since she is no longer eating meat, I think they want to report me for child abuse or send me to the funny farm. :p
And I keep hearing the infamous question from everybody...where do you get your protein? AAAAUUUUGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
Anyway, sorry for the long introduction. It's great to be here!
