Hi my name is Bonnie Jo. My friend Morn introduced me to this website cause she saw my eating habits as identical to the RAW way. I grew up petty much RAW and didn't know it. At the time in Ohio, co-op orders were huge and Adelle Davis was my mother's leader. My Mom grew up heavy due to her parents immigrant diet. I just decided to eat this way after I wieghed in at 230lbs one day. I needed to find my back. I started realizing what my mom had raised me on wasn't fluff. I got mad at all the damage I had done to my body. I started eating RAW in the sense of friuts, veggies, salades etc... but had a heavy Mediterrianian influence. I still ate feta, basically any white cheese and lean meat.Never was a big pop drinker. Especially since my friend got a job at the kidney dialysis center. When Morn saw my diet after she discoverd this place... she said... you should just go raw!!! Your already there! Honestly, I'm having a hard time giving up the white cheese. Slowly moving the nuts into its place. As for the meat. No biggie there. Now mind you I've been eating this way unknowingly to any type of lifestyle and dropped 80lbs. I had started to loose spirit and Morn had found RAW and wanted to share it with me. I'm feeling better and love all the recipes I remember my mom making. I've been loosing lbs.the more I get involved the better I feel. I'm still a novice to cooking and will start with a blueberry pie. Hopefully other simple recipes. Take care all. Bonnie Jo

That's awesome you basically grew up raw!

I love this site and have been known to browse the posts for hours at a time, and hope you'll find it encouraging as well.

HEY Kiddo - glad you stopped on by to introduce yourself! I am so proud of all the changes and efforts you have been making lately. You are doing so awesome! I know giving up the stuff we love can be difficult - but how WE FEEL and look will be our reward! Stick with it - and here's a green smoothie toast to YOU! Those 20 pounds will be off in no time at all!

Welcome! I am pretty new here myself and also from Michigan. I am really hoping to find some other RAW eaters locally. Well, I dont know if they would be very locally since I live in the sticks but even near G.R. would great. :)

Best of luck to you! Sounds like you have a much better start than I did, coming from a completely SAD background.
