Is that even a saying? "Push the envelope"?
Meh, I don't know but I'm sure you all get the point.
Anyway, I am writing an article for www.rawfoodmedia.com (http://www.rawfoodmedia.com) about raw food athletes. People who really do more than just exercise. Marathoners, tri-athletes, people who compete in any sport whatsoever, just people that go the extreme, I guess.
There are a few websites about particular raw food athletes, and I shall be referencing these, but I would love to hear from people on this forum also. I am sure there are a lot of you out there. So, if you think you fit the bill, please send me a message or reply to this forum. I guess I'm looking for quotes, or achievements or recommendations, or opinions, anything really. Then I will use your name and whatever you have to say in the article (with your permission first).
Thanks to all who may reply!
(Actually, does anyone know of any 'famous' athletes who are raw? I mean, the lance armstrongs or the mike tysons of the world? I'm quite sure mike tyson is NOT raw but you get my drift.)
Why haven't more coaches or athletes tapped into the raw thing???

That sounds very exciting. I'd be interested to know who the athletes are that are raw. I heard that the woman who won the boston Marathon a few years ago is raw. And ther's a weightlifter/bodybuilder in California Stephen Alpin (that's not it, but it's an A word) who's raw. He wrote Raw Power I'll be interested to hear what you find out about coaches and athletes alike.
I am a 66 y.o. biker who's made some big gains after being raw for 6 mos. -- maybe 2 or 2 1/2 mph faster whith lots more stamina as well. Maybe you saw my recent post on this forum. Good luck! :)
Brendan Brazier's pretty famous . . . I'm sure you'll be including him . . .

Ruth Heidrich is in her 70's and is a marathon winner, triathlete, and raw vegan. Her website is:

I've emailed her in the past and she has very kindly repsonded. She is amazing! She has won more than 900 gold medals in all the competitions she has participated in.
She also beat cancer with a vegan diet (cooked at the time) and she is very inspirational.

I did a lot of research but didn't come across half of those mentioned, so thanks to you all. Well, the article is done now. It was interesting to write. Definitely I think that if more athletes get the raw word out we'll all benefit.
For anyone who is interested, the article is here http://rawfoodmedia.com/rawathletes (http://rawfoodmedia.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=95&Itemid=43)
Cute crack at mike tyson! Suppose ears ARE raw...and super fresh.

Heck, I'm pushing the envelope just to STAY raw, much less all this wonderful athletic business!
If I tried to get back into being an athlete again, I am sure it would be more enjoyable being a raw vegan athlete.
The idea is a great one. Something I shall consider for the future when I've lost some weight and feel more inclined to skate again as I really do miss it.

Tennis player Matina Navratilova - but she was phenomenal before she was raw.
Swimmer Murray Rose was raised on a high raw diet but maybe that doesn't interest you? He ate a wholefood vegan diet with lots of raw food and grew up to be the best swimmer the world had ever seen up until then.
There was a man in the paper recently who broke the record for going longest without sleep. He credited it to his raw diet.
This doesnt count, but I just thought I'd say anyway - before I was raw if I was awake after 1am I felt really drunk and couldnt function properly. Since raw I can go three nights and 4 days without sleep and spend all that time working with no problems, without being drunk or half dead.

"My strength and endurance both improved noticeably, as did my on and off court recovery. I would recommend Dr Graham to any athlete." - Martina Navratilova, Tennis Champion
"Every aspect of my performance is improved. At 34, after two years on Dr Graham's program, I am in the best shape of my life." - Ronnie Grandison, New York Knicks, USA

On wednesday, I will have been raw for 5 months. This past saturday, I participated in my first sprint triathlon (swim .5mi, bike 12mi, run 3 mi). The only thing close that I've done in the past was a 10k run last fall. Since I've been raw, I run almost everyday, do yoga a least once a week, take spin classes, and have just started teaching pilates 2-3 times a week. All the while maintaining a full time job and finding time to go berry picking and to the beach once a week. Does that count as pushing the envelope?
