Hello all! I am BRAND new to Raw. Just started about 30hrs ago!

I have been vegetarian for 15 years. I have multiple chronic health problems and have been "sick and tired" of being "sick and tired"!

A couple of months ago, my surgeon planted the raw seed--mainly as a way to lose weight. Then I started looking on the internet for info. I just "knew" in my gut that I really wanted and needed to do this to feel better. I wasn't too sure how to go about it and how to start. Then a few days ago, Alissa's book and DVD arrived. Wow! I have been jazzed ever since. I went raw almost immediately. I committed to at least 30 days, but truly feel that it will be longer than that. If I can survive the winter here, that is. Right now food is plentiful. I'm not sure how to be raw in the dead of winter.

I've already noticed less pain in my hands and a two pound weight loss. I'm still pretty tired, but then I haven't had much sleep in the last two days!;)

I am SO grateful to Alissa for spelling out the first four weeks--even down to shopping lists! That helped me the most next to watching the DVD.

My carnivore partner liked the dinner I prepared the first day so much, that to my complete and utter surprise she announced that she was planning to go raw at least part of the time.

I don't know if I will posting all that much...I don't have the patience to sit at the computer for long periods. But please know that I will at least read as often as I can and that I appreciate everyone being here!

Blessings.

Welcome!
I'm from Lex. Ky. So I'm close! LOL. My family and I just started RAW and I'm doing fine but my 15 and 12yr.:( old children are having flu like symptons the Dr. said it's normal when your change from such a high fat diet. It's been about 3-days sense we've had our bk. and dvds and I'm loving it the kids, the dr. said they will adjust just keep it up, and WE will, but I'm so glad to hear that you and your partner are doing well on it so far. Keep up the good work...;)

Hi Lane! and thanks everyone for welcoming me. I look forward to the community here online.

I'm so glad to "know" another person here in town who is raw. I knew there were some (my doctor had raw friends), but I haven't met anyone here who is 100% raw. One woman at church today said she is 70% raw. My lab director thinks I have gone off my rocker, and is very concerned that I will not get enough protein!! I couldn't convince him otherwise, and though he quit questioning me after I said I was planning on taking a vitamin and mineral supplement (just in case--I became iron deficient recently), I could tell I didn't convince him -- even though I told him I had the blessings of both of my doctors! Oh well, I know I will convince him with my radiant good health!!!

Do you know anyone else raw here in town??

I wish we had a raw restaurant. Roots and Greens (?) do have wheatgrass and maybe a few other things. But I'm jealous of my friend in San Francisco!

I had a movie & pizza night with friends on Saturday, set up about a month ago. But I took my own food (fettucine alfredo) and brought spinach dip and salad to share. I was not tempted in the least by the pizza. However, my friend made her famous spinach/feta/cucumber/sour cream dip, and I confess I did dip a carrot into it. I was surprised how much my tastes have changed already! It did not taste good to me at all! So I really feel like this is a long-term change. The only thing I am not sure about is how much will be available in winter. I know the avocados are often really pathetic here in winter. How is it being raw in the winter?

Blessings!

no, i don't know anyone who is raw- we just moved here 3 weeks ago, so i really don't know anyone at all- but bloomingfoods (which, although we just moved here, we've been a member of for a few years now) stocks rejuvenative foods brand nut butters, so i am assuming that there are people who have asked for them.
is your doctor still eating mostly raw foods? we are looking for a family practitioner, and would love a recommendation- if you're willing to and feel more comfortable doing so, you're welcomed to privately e-mail me that info..
i haven't had a difficult time eating raw foods during the winter- but i eat alot of greens, nuts and seeds which are evenly available year round.
do you shop at the co-op? sahara mart? are there any other good places i should know about??
