I am looking for some new ideas for my green smoothies and wanted to see what anyone thought. I do enjoy the greens but definetly like them sweet. I ussually do banana, coconut, pinapple and spinach and of course Alissa's green powder, or berries spinach, powder and maybe an apple. How about carob, banana, coconut, spinach green powder? I feel like I am being bad if I add carob to my smoothie. UGh such food issues. My other issue is it takes alot of stuff to make 2 full servings doesn't it.

I like it,
I took a handful of red strawberries, ripe and a medium sweet red pepper, the large kind and a large kale leaf and a banana and blended away.
The sweetness of the pepper and the strawberries made it good.
I gave my husband a glass and he turned his nose up but he does that with almost everything i do when making green smoothies:)
He drank it and liked it.
I'm always looking for new things to put in my smoothies:)

My two favorite ingredients in g.s.'s: frozen cherries and mangoes. Not necessarily together.

I like to do as much greens as I can in order to get as many as possible. Basically the fruit is just an excuse to get more greens in the diet. I like to do

Greens: Some sort of kale, chard, lettuce, sprouts, parsley
Fats: Avocado, coconut butter or coconut flakes
Fruit: Mostly frozen berries and maybe 1 or 2 pieces (refigerated) of anything you like
Dry stuff: Flax, hemp seed powder, almond flower or whatever you got!
Base: Water or some kind of nut milk or whatever floats your boat.

This will keep you full for hours! :)

I made a really good one this morning. It had:

1 c water
2 frozen bananas
1/4 pineapple
(This is my smoothie base, it goes in every morning!)

1 stalk celery
1 large handful of spinach
(today's greens)

1 fresh fig from a neighbor's tree
1 c frozen berries
(for extra sweetness)

I also like my smoothies pretty sweet. But I have also noticed over time I'm picking up on the 'green' flavors less and less (like the celery. The first few smoothies I added celery to, the taste really stood out. Now I don't even notice that it's there). So maybe that's my body's way of telling me it's time to add more greens!

Another thing I've noticed is that the more frozen things I add (like the 2 frozen bananas, and the frozen berries), the more I enjoy the taste of the smoothies. I think it's because my tongue is kind of fooled into thinking I'm eating ice cream or a really cold milkshake or something. :D
