Lately Ive been reading that coconut can really help you lose weight bc of the type of saturated fat it is is quickly converted to energy. plus we all know how satisfying and filling it is. Has anyone here lost more weight by eating more coconut/coconut oil?

I started eating it when I was 320 pounds WAY against doctors orders.

after 1 year I went down to 285 pounds not exercising and on SAD diet.

my colesteral was down 12 points (surprising cause i was eating WAY more fast foods that year).

So I think the oil helped I used it for cookings and i would take a table spoon a day.

It was the tropical traditions brand.

Do you eat it right from the spoon or do you mix it in with smoothies? I've tried it straight from a spoon and blech! I could hardly swallow it! I've tried adding it to smoothies before, I think I'll start again..

what's the difference between coconut butter and oil?

Do you get the same great benefits from eating either one?

Coconut oil and butter are one in the same, if I'm not mistaken....just warm the jar in warm water to go from a creamy consistency to an oil-like consistency.
I have the one from Artisana, and it's really smooth and creamy as opposed to some lower quality oils/butters I've seen.

I think coconut butter also contains the whole meat of the coconut. The taste of the coconut butter has a stronger coconut flavor than the coconut oil --- due to the fact that the butter has incorporated the meat also. Both are quite tasty!! ;)

Coconut butter is the whole coconut, not just the oil. It does not have the same consistency or taste. Its closer to a nut butter than an actual oil.

I eat whole Thai coconuts on a regular basis especially after running or a good workout due to the electrolytes in the water. I sometimes add the oil to my smoothies. Coconut oil is great for people with low thyroid function, which can also aid in weight loss.
