has anyone ever experienced weight gain and bloatedness from being raw? because At the moment I am! and its uncomftable....not a nice feeling. I keep getting the tendancy to pass gas and head to the toilet however i just end up relaising im constipated despite the feeling of wanting to go. :(

i just can't help it...

this too shall pass (the gas, hahaha)

when you radically change your diet it takes a little bit of time to adjust.
once you are used to the raw, the same thing will happen when you eat sad food.

hahaha, cheers I need the humour to lighten up such a terrible day! Im proud that im eating more fruit then ALOT of people. The goverment reccomends like 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. Im well exceeding that now im starting this raw lifestyle. Despite my weight shooting up, its not fat weight, because my body fats dropped, it feels like because im more bloated im heavier, like air preassure or some other weight (other than fat)

are you eating gassy veggies like broccoli cauliflower & cabbage?
also, are you food combining? ie. melons alone etc....
these thoughts might give you earlier relief.
:)
good job so far!!!

Hey Merat, try eating just one kind of fruit at a time, then wait about 20-30 minutes before having another kind of fruit. Sounds like a food combining issue :) Not all fruits are equal, but veggies seem to be
To help release gas, lie on your back and bring your knees to your chest and hold them there.
I hope you start to feel better!

perhaps? Sounds like it. I remember a couple months ago there was someone who had just started eating raw who also experienced the bloating and weight gain. It won't last. Really. ;)

When i go to the bathroom my bowels seem sticky, almost gummy like.
They do move more than when i was eat SAD and i'm happy about that.
Has anyone else had this bathroom experience?

I'm thinking that you're raw diet is scraping old nasty lining out of the intestiner, some of the mucoid plaque, which accounts for the grossness. I watched some of that putrid stuff shoot down the tube when I was fasting and had colon hydrotherapy. I was all  that came out of me! "Well, there goes that sh*#*y mood!"

i think it has to do with your food combining. the book i have says to eat fruits alone and on an empty stomach. veggies can be combined with anything but fruit...but don't combine a starch (like a sweet potato) with nuts or dried fruit or seeds (like an almond and raisin trail mix) mixing among categories causes digestion to slow

Black or sticky faeces usually means it is very old particulate matter which has been pulled from the intestinal walls. This is particular true if the feces smell particularly foul, and unlike anything you've eaten in the last few days. In other words: a bunch of bad crap.

For example, I recently came off the SAD to do a juice fast for a few days. After several juice "flushes" as I call them, I had very dark viscous bowel movements which sunk very quickly to the bottom of the toilet.

In general, I wouldn't worry about strange body odors or other bodily excretions if you recently changed your diet. The effect may linger for months. Longer if you are overweight.

I recently was eating a lot of cantaloupe (it was on sale at the grocery store) for a couple of days, and my BM's were such a pale green that they were almost white! Has this ever happened to anyone else before??? I was so wierded out when I looked in the toilet, haha!

Also, I found that going mono on the cantaloupe made me feel completely cleaned out, and totally satisfied, like my minerals and vitamins and sodium were in total balance...if anyone is ever constipated, I highly suggest cantaloupe. I'm pretty sure it's the wonder food . Just basically. :)

I swear by parsley sprigs. In salad, in smoothies, diced small and added to fruit. Gas? Gone.
