Where's Alissa?

I think she's been busy cleaning up after the storm and preparing to move to California. Boy, she has a tremendous amount of trust to leave us alone out here!!!!!!

Im sorry I have not been on the board! But it looks like you are all doing great here by yourselves!

Ok here is the scoop -
We had the thought to move to CA. Within a month we thought 'ya, lets move'. So we booked tickets for the 22nd of sept to come out and look around for a few days with the intention of coming back and starting the moving process. Well, We sold the house within a week, needed to move all of our furniture and belongings so we called a mover and they said if you send it next week it will take 3 weeks. Thinking we couldn’t wait that long for all our stuff (business stuff, etc..) we asked what other options we had. They said 'we can pick up your stuff in two days and then it will be there in a week.' so we looked at each other and said 'OK!' within 2 days we packed a whole house up. Then we thought, well, why are we going to fly our and come back since none of our stuff will be here. So I had the brilliant idea of staying in CA and just finding a place when we got here. Well, we looked around as soon as we got out here, and found a place in Laguna beach, right near the beach and at the bottom of our street is this place called the stand, where they sell juices and raw foods mixed in with vegan foods. It’s been there for 30 years and it’s listed in my book. One morning as we were driving I said, hey I wonder where that place is and looking it up in the back of my book it said thalia st. the same street we were going to live on! It was too dark in the morning for us to even see it that morning.
Anyway, we are now in a hotel, our stuff is going to get delivered Monday, and we cannot move in till Thursday. soooo, we are thinking we need to put stuff in a storage center and then move it all again, aughghgghhg!
So it is kind of hectic here with us, our two cats and our suitcase and nothing else, we are trying to get situated but it wont is till the end of next week. Sorry if this is disjointed but im writing this from a little cafe near the beach that has Internet service. This is such a cool place, I already love it here. There is a tiny gym around the corner from us and everyone here is so nice. We have been living on mangos and these incredible grapes and going to raw restaurants every night. There is so much raw food out here, its hard not to be raw. I feel like im home. Even though it’s a very hectic time right now, im so happy and feeling like I have found my place to be.
We have rented a tiny little house a block from the ocean (its outrageously expensive here so im happy we even found a house) and it has a little backyard that ill be doing small dinners out of...I cant wait to get settled. Although I don’t think we will be here for that long as they are going to eventually redo the entire house, but we will be here for about a year im sure, then we will need to find something else but I would love to stay in this area as it is like a dream.
So, that’s my story, thanks everyone for taking such good care of the boards while im away!

I'm in shock - I was planning on coming down to Florida to say hi :D Guess not!!! As a New Yorker I could never make the adjustment to CA. My sister lives in SF and will never leave. I lived in SF for about a year but I hated it. Guess you can't take the nycity girl out of me. However, even having just said that, my dh and I are looking at moving to upstate ny, like New Paltz, basically farm country - we went apple picking up there today (oh did I eat too many apples!!!) and we're seriously considering it.

Great to hear you are doing well. So. Cal. is a good place to be for those who want to be there. I've spent many a day in San Diego and I'm planning a trip to LA to see my friend Brian Frates. You should look him up. He appears at a few comedy clubs and improv theaters in the LA area. He is very upbeat and approachable. Tell him the raw food guy from Connecticut said hi. He'll know who you mean. Sorry I can't tell you my real name. Witness protection and all. That's a joke.

My folks are ok in Florida and my prayers are with all in the region. West Palm seems to be getting hit as I type.

Enjoy California and remember to get an agent. You have a product and a personality which can really give raw foods a cool and hip feel the the whole country can relate to. I wish you the best.

I agree with M.B. - get an agent, get more known. Get your star! I do not think your getting in the limelight will change you because you have such a compassionate spirit and a love to help people as you have done for me.

Well, here's an update: All of our belongings got delivered and we put everything in the garage out back. we are shipping and working out of that everyday to send orders, etc... but we wont be moved in untill friday. then we have to move everything from the garage into the house....
We are finding our way around here though and loving it. ill be back on here more starting next week.
ill post some pictures also as soon as i unpack my camera :confused:
