and as far as my lifestyle is concerned, I couldnt be happier :)

Anyone in the SoCal area? I'll be moving to Los Angeles in October permanently to pursue acting (surprise surprise). I studied Theatre in college and just graduated.

So, hello! I'm Lauren and my life pretty much revolves around filming or bartending at night, yoga in the beginning of my day, and FOOD. Lots of good raw stuff (well, with some hummus and crackers here and there!) I cant imagine how much more beneficial LA is going to be for all those things....for health..career...

Anyway, I would love to get into contact with some Californians so I atleast have some people to potentially meet up with once I am there. Especially raw foodists who are into yoga, I've been teaching a few classes here and there and would LOVE to get into a good studio, though I realize it might be difficult without knowing anyone.

Aloha lalakis! Obviously I'm not in LA, but from reading the posts I think there's quite few that are either in or very near to LA. I just wanted to say blessings on your move - that's so exciting! Keep us posted! And when you're famous I can say.... Hey!!! :D I know her!!! SHE'S A RAWBIE!!

Starfire you are the cutest raw poster, I swear! Your replies always make me smile.

Thank you! I'll be driving cross country which is super exciting because it will be at the perfect time when the leaves are beginning to change and the scenery will be breath-taking......but a little scary! I think my yoga teacher is accompanying me on the trip! *good travel karma*

WHEN I'm famous...ha! Sheesh. Let's hope so, otherwise I dont know what Ill do to support myself! ;)

What part of L.A. you moving to? It's a REALLY big place.

The cheapest place :)

I am in love with Santa Monica (isnt everyone?) but I have a feeling I'll be living in Hollywood or maybe Koreatown. I'm trying to find a decent studio for around $700 because I adore living by myself, and Koreatown or Mid-Wilshire seem to be my best options.

Were you able to find any listing for decent studios for that price in those locations prior to your move? I relocated to so cal in 2004. I live in the Inland Empire though.

If you want to live IN the city, I'm thinking Mid-Wilshire would be rather expensive. Koreatown, not so. You might try some outlying areas like N. Hollywood which is now BOOMING and wont be affordable soon. Probably get an older (the best, I think) studio apt. there in that range now...they'll be going for around $1200 soon.

N. Hollywood consists of Toluca Lake and Studio City.

Have you checked craigslist for options?

Lots of yoga studios everywhere you go now. One just opened in Burbank (another place to check out) called Yoga Groove.

You wont find "cheap" unless you mean run-down yet, if you can take a couple of weeks to look, write down exactly what you're looking for in housing, area, etc., you'll find it. Do you enjoy getting out walking? do you like being near parks? When you go out do you want to be able to walk the streets? Hills? Do you want free parking where you live? Enclosed or street?

Suggestion: ask these questions and more. Be prepared BEFORE you come. Finding people who live here is a start. There are quite a few on this board. Keep bumping it up, they'll find you. :)

A friend of mine lives up in Valley Village and pays around $800 for a pretty big 1 bedroom apartment. It's nice up there--a bit more quiet and laid-back than living right in the city, but it's just right over the hill so it's still totally close enough to work/shop/whatever in the city.

Oh man, I SO wish I lived in Santa Monica! I fell in love with it the first time I stayed there--isn't it a wonderful place? (especially for raw foodists!) :D

Ahhh, that's the one I forgot about. VV is also part of the NoHo area.

Lalakis -

I'm not in California. I just wanted to take a moment and say "Yay for you and your raw self following your dream!":D Such an adventure. You know, when it gets closer to the time of your trip, you may wanna post where you'll be going through. You never know, some of these lovely people may invite you for a raw dinner pit stop?! Go for that dream girl!:D
