Today I finish off a 21 lb watermelon that I bought on Monday. I love watermelon! They sell watermelon in the winter, but it doesn't taste as good as it does now. How well does it freeze? I've seen watermelon chunks in the freezer section mixed with other melons, but they usually don't taste that great to me. What am I going to do? What do you all do?

I have frozen it in the past, but then just used it in smoothies, which some say melons are not the best in a smoothie, but it never bothered me. I guess that's why I now eat seasonally for my area. More lighter in the summer months, greens, 'maters, peaches, corn and such and heavier, dehydrated foods, avocados, nuts in the winter months.

WOW! A 21LB WATERMLON!!! HOW MUCH DID THAT COST? Stores charge about $5 for a little sliver here....no fair.

If you don't like it in smoothies there is always juicing. :D

It was .29 cents a pound. It was a little over $6.00.

I do like smoothies. That's a thought for the frozen chunks. Thanks for the input. :)

I guess I wouldn't be eating much watermelon if I lived there. That's outrageous! I hate to ask you what cherries cost. That's another favorite. I probably should pit and freeze those too.
