Is there anyway to dehydrate foods without a dehydrator? They are currently out of my budget but i see a lot of yummy recipes that call for one like pizza crust, wraps, etc.

I used to use my oven before I got my dehydrator. Just put it on the lowest setting, then pull the rack halfway out and let the oven door rest up against it to keep the heat in a little. You have to check the temp on your oven with a meat thermometer, though, because with the oven door open the temp setting will not be accurate.
As a side note, you can find really good deals on dehydrators on craigslist, thats where I got mine :)

I use my owen all the time and it works fine. Just leave the door slightly open (stick a folded piece of paper in between to allow the heat and steam to escape). I find, at the time being, that I don't want a dehydrator as I'm not too much into dried up food, but on occasion, it's really nice to have that pizza.:)
Also, if you have something else to dry, something like herbs, I put them on top of kitchen cupboards and they dry up wonderfully.

you can also use the sun. You need to rig up something to do it in, with screening, a rack, etc... You can even build a proper solar dehydrator if you would like to google that.

So nice to hear a helpful suggestion about dehydrator alternatives. It seems that so many raw foodists are so incredibly anti-oven that all they want is for us to buy dehydrators... and as I'm sure you understand, we don't all have money to spend on even the cheapest appliances. SO THANK YOU SO MUCH for the helpful tip! :)

I dehydrated sprouted buckwheat groats in my car the other day. They are nice and crispy and crunchy and raw.
It wouldn't work for a pizza crust though, but if you want to dehydrate sprouted nuts and seeds, its not a bad way to try it.

You're so welcome :) I'm anti-oven as well, but only when it comes to baking ;)
