We have the MOST annoying customer ever that comes in once in a while. The thing he goes on and on the most about are calories, fat grams, protein, fiber, etc. and he as a projected voice you can hear a mile away. He stays and talks and talks and talks for an hour or more. He corners and tortures other customers he doesn't even know and one literally ran out of the store once to get out of there away from him! Just the energy he gives off...you completely lose concentration and stuff. I won't say more about that as it's rude, but I had to vent because he came to the store today. UGH!! Oh, he's hit on me a few times too VERY inappropriately (plus he's 40-50 something). That's just wrong!! lol.

The point is, when he blabs on and on about nutrition information is all wrong!!! First he couldn't even read the nutrition panel correctly. Today he picked up a kombucha for the first time and i was kind of explaining to him what it does. He asked if it was a detox thing and he will NEVER detox. He says "you think ti's healthy, but it's NOT! Know why I know that? My dad died of colon cancer and so I went to get cleansed and the doctor said I should only get it done once and never again. Detoxing is dangerous...." and went on and on. I tried to explain that a colonic and other forms of detox are different, but he just didn't understand. He also said he'll never eat raw almonds and stuff like that as they're bad for you, etc. Oh, after torturing a customer today (and she actually came up to us and talked about him bothering her. We can't do anything about it though :( ) he said that he should work here or be a salesman and if not, he should write everything he knows about nutrition because....here's the shocker! He's been studying it for 10 years apparently. After 10 years don't you think you could read a nutrition panal? Sorry, this is just sad. Sad he didn't know these things and is so convinced. Sad that there are so many others out there that think the same way he does. Sad that not many at all know the TRUTH, don't want to know the truth, or can't find it some how.

Ok, needed to vent I guess. Thanks for reading.

I can empathize with how you feel. I work at the cafe at my church and make smoothies( including green smoothies) and organic gourmet salads (keeping them all raw :) ) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyway, there is this guy that comes in all the time and goes on and on to the customers, and to me, about how unhealthy it is to combine fruit and greens! I have tried to share with him, but suffice it to say, he is not open-minded about this. And on top of that, one of my co-workers once likened a green smoothie to baby poop right in front of the customer. GRRR! But I have to say that overall I find many people are interested and open-minded as long as I am gentle. I have had customers buy hot dogs and green smoothies at the same time which is like an oxymoron to me. But I am so happy that they are having the green smoothie, I just smile! :)

There is a certain breed of people I merely stare at without responding and get away from as soon as possible. But, when I'm diligent about doing my deep meditation, I can win over the world!

Oh man, I would have to hide/avoid this character. And if he harasses the customers, call the cops.

Well, you'd be nasty like that if you were as constipated as he is. Ohhhhh, did I say that aloud???

If that was me I would have stopped him mid sentence, grab my cell phone, dial number, as I wait for the other line to pick up, look him in the eyes, and when the person answers " Hi yes, I have called to schedule my DETOXYFYING FACIAL,MASSAGE,COLONIC. THANKS" BUH BYE NOW"

Well you just came up another good use for ear plugs. That "annoying" customer is just another source of noise pollution.

If it were my store, I would ask him to either stop forcing his opinions on customers or leave. I've seen it done before in similiar situations and I think it's quite reasonable. It's just not good business to have people like that in the store. Sure they'll feel rejected, but hey....customers running from the store is NOT a good sign. Plus, sounds like he's bringing down the employee vibe too. He'd should be finding his groove elsewhere!!!

To give this man the benefit of the doubt, he may have some underlying mental health issues. (Not that this would make badgering anyone and everyone acceptable!)

Why do you feel there's nothing you can do about it? I agree with barose. You might want to consider contacting law enforcement/security (depending on where the store is located). It could become a safety issue for others, including yourself, if this man is harassing people as you describe.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

I'll talk to my manager today and see what she thinks.
