I want to do some sprouting and I think I want a sprouter to help me along? What do you use to sprout? Any recommended brands or types????
I would love the advice!

After years of avoiding sprouting thinking I needed to get a sprouter or jar(which I tried once and didn't care for), I took the idea in Alissa's book. I just put some mung beans into a bowl and it was too easy this way. :D

I use the Biosta sprouter. Super easy to use. It is a plastic three level sprouter than automatically waters all the levels. No electricity - just water the top level once a day and it takes care of the rest. :)

Glass mason jar, with the lid ring, and a piece of plastic screening.
Way preferred, and I own a sprouter which I don't use.
You get a better rinse, and the jars don't take up much room in the dishwasher.
Just put downward on a 45 degree angle to drain.

I use the one from Sproutpeople.com. Works great, and they're only $13!

I have two Freshlife sprouter systems. LOVE 'EM. Absolutely LOVE THEM! So easy, just have to change the water each morning or evening.
Literally buckwheat sprouts overnight!

I got mine from Sproutpeople. There's the plastic container on the bottom. It has a small little piece in there for tiny sprouts if needed. Then there's a draining insert and a lid. Works very well.

do you have to rinse them? mold?
When you water once a day from the top - that is the rinsing part. You fill the top level only with water and it drains down to the next level, rinsing that level, than to the third level and than down to a final level which just holds the water. A tiny bit of water will the left on the bottom of each tray for all level to keep the sprouts moist.
You empty out the bottom water tray everyday.
I havent had any mold. Just a bit of white fuzz because I didn't water on time once or twice but that is it.
Here is what it looks like:

I got the clear one. But the green is pretty cute too!
It is easy to wash too - just be careful not to lose the the little red caps. :)
I don't do a ton of sprouting but I like the three different layers so if I need to sprout some different seeds on each layer I can.

I have the one from sproutpeople as well. I could never get the hang of sprouting in the mason jar, my sprouts always turned out weird or molded. The first batch I made in the sprouter shocked me, I had no idea what it was supposed to look like. LOL
