I am trying this increased raw diet and would love to manage total raw as in the challenge. But the longest I have made is 7 continuous days. My problem, as the title states, is a rush to the toilet around 8:30 of the morning and bowel problems that I wouldn't want to continue. Is there something I can add to my diet to change this? I usually had carrot\apple\celery juice for breakfast and a 1 pint bottle of the same for lunch, plus fruit and a salad or avocado nachos later for dinner and a smoothie at night. Does the large amount of fresh juice cause the problem or is it just a transition phase that gets better with more time?

O.k., clarity here. Loose as in a LOT of bowel movements as in many of them? ... or loose as in lots of water? How long (as in how many days) does this last?

As far as cramping, I'd done a tea at one time that was about colon cleansing. Amazing pain. Felt as though someone was taking a hoe to my colon and cleaning it out. Did the job ~ loose stools and all. Once I pooped, pain gone ~ until next time.

If it's watery, I would cut down on the fruits and do vegetable juices (IF I were doing juices). Personally, more whole veggies, seeds, nuts, sprouted grains. There is no reason not to have a salad for breakfast. Firm stools are made up of the fiber that is not digested. IF there's no fiber, hard to have firm stools. Think of baby poo.

Avocado nachos? What's in those please?

Injoy ~

I just mash up an avocado, put it on baked chips (I don't have a dehydrater) and top it with salsa. Very filling.

Hi,

you are drinking lots of juice, but juice has no fiber, and as the previous post states, you need the fiber to clean your bowels, and to have something to evacuate from the bowl.

So, I would either make smoothies out of the fruit, which is use the whole fruit, and not toss the pulp, drink the pulp, or at least some of it, or make crackers out of the pulp, if you don't have a dehydrator, you can still make crackers using either a hair dryer, your oven on warm with the door open, or put your items in front of a fire place, with a fan, or in front of your heat source.

also, you might choose to try eating your lunch fruit instead of drinking it.

It's not that juice isn't good for you, it is, but if it isn't working for you, then these other ideas may help.

I always choose to eat my fruit, because I like to chew and I like the feeling of eating, instead of drinking, basically I only drink water (artesian well) and almond milkshakes.

The problem is not exactly diarrhea but pretty close. It began about the 5th day and was a regular morning event for the next three mornings. Adding cooked food with dinner stops it. I just wondered if others experienced the same.

If it's loose and only once a day, I would rejoice if I were you. If that's not it, then I'm not clear on the problem ~ or if there even is one. My husband noticed that his bm's improved once eating raw. He was happy for it!

I once had a client who I'd put on a new food program whisper to me that she was have 3 "b'ms" a day. I was say "YESSSS!" Not something she was use to soooo, stopped the food program. Ah well!

Injoy ~

Thanks for the info. I'll try the oven crackers idea. And I'll go back to eating an apple as I walk at lunch instead of repeating the juice.

Just wondering, does this necessarily have to be mean there is a problem? Couldn't be just that your body is cleaning house...that your colon is being cleaned out in a manner that it wasn't allowed to when you were eating cooked foods? I mean, if it's a morning-thing and not an all-day thing...it could be just some cleaning and clearing taking place. Also, you are drinking a lot of juice and smoothies each day...I know that during juice fasts (not that you're on one) and/or Master Cleanse fasts, they tell you to expect looser, more watery stool due to the liquids you are drinking...but that it's nothing to be alarmed about because it is cleaning you. But as it's been suggested, adding more bulk/fiber to your diet will help.

I know I remember reading that the A.M. hours are the body's time of cleansing too.
