Hello fellow Raw-Foodists:

I am very inspired by many of your stories. As a newbie to this way of life, I am physically fit and work out 7 days a week for a minimum of an hour, and have already lost 4 pounds (something I've not been able to do) and it scared the living daylights out of me (while on the raw diet). I am definitely 90%-95% raw and have eaten several organic fruits, veggies, lots of water, raw flax crackers, but dropping a lot very quickly.

Is this normal, and how much did you lose in the first couple of weeks -- I understand that everyone, body, and chemistry is different but my inquisitive mind wonders about it.

Thanks! ;)

Sara

I lost 8.5 pounds by day 6 with no working out, but not much more after that. Today is the first day of my 3rd week. I need to get to the gym.

Thank you CaliRaw -- Congrats on your weight loss. Do you notice a beautiful glow? Maybe I am crazy, but I feel that I look a couple of years younger -- maybe it is the dramatic increase of water intake.

I am loving the raw way of things

In the first 2 weeks of being raw, I lost 15 pounds without working out much at all. ;) I haven't lost anything else as yet, but my clothing continues to get bigger (or am I getting smaller? <lol>) & I am losing inches everywhere. I work out 5-6 days a week.

Hey Stasi,

Wow! 15 pounds is a lot of weight to lose, and for many that makes a huge difference in your physique. I noticed that my muscles are more defined and apparent than before. That is so fantastic to hear that you have a love for the gym as you are working out a lot. For me, I feel so fatigued from the caffeine withdrawals and the major transition as I suspect those symptoms should lessen in the next few days. I tried doing cardio for an hour, but was winded by 45 minutes :( Thankfully, I am convincing myself that I am in the preliminary stages of this raw lifestyle so I need to get adjusted.

It is good to know that you are still losing the inches and you are getting smaller ;)

Maybe you should slow down the exercise to 5 days a week? Especially when you are detoxing.

Hey Stacie,

I think that is probably an excellent idea considering that I am very fatigued and want to nap quite a bit. I doubt I have the energy to make it in today.

I hope the symptoms last for no more than a week.

Thanks for the awesome advice, I will take the day off from working out :)

I don't notice a glow yet. I am losing inches, even though I haven't lost many more pounds. I did a juice fast for two weeks a couple of months ago and I noticed a glow then.

I planned to start going back to the gym, but I am feeling tired. Before eating raw, I only slept 6 hours each night. This has been going on since I turned 40, so I was thinking hormones. I woke up often and couldn't always fall back asleep right away. Now, I am only sleeping 4 hours! I wake up at 3 AM feeling wide awake. I was so tired yesterday that I went to bed at 8:30. I woke up 2 hours later and watched tv for 45 minutes. I then went back to sleep and woke up at 6:30 feeling better than the previous few days, but not completely rested.
