I use to love garden burgers & boca burgers like you buy in the store, is there a good raw recipe with lots of veggies in it and not so much nuts out there?

Ooh ooh I agree! I LOVED garden burger patties. I'm sure they had some soy in them, but there were definatly grains in there too....hmmmm

Boca Burger Original
Ingredients: WATER, SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, WHEAT GLUTEN, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF METHYLCELLULOSE, SALT, DRIED ONIONS, YEAST EXTRACT, SESAME OIL, HYDROLYZED WHEAT PROTEIN, CARAMEL COLOR, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR (NON-MEAT), DISODIUM GUANYLATE, DISODIUM INOSINATE.
<---- ewwww
From my experiance, eggplant dehydrates to a very good and bite-able non-chewy consistancy. So I'm going to try and form some veggie patties with eggplant, some onions, ......something to bind that isn't so....heavy...hmmmmm
GardenBurger Original:
Ingredients
Cooked Brown Rice, Vegetables (Mushrooms, Onions), Water, Rolled Oats, Bulgur Wheat-Hydrated, Cheddar Cheese (Pasteurized Milk, Cheese Culture, Salt, Enzymes), Wheat Fiber, Mozzarella Cheese ([Pasteurized Milk, Cultures, Salt, Enzymes], Nonfat Milk, Corn Starch, Natural Flavors, Annatto [Vegetable Color]), High Oleic Canola Oil, Salt, Parsley, Dried Garlic, Isolated Soy Protein, Vegetable Gum, Autolyzed Yeast Extract, Soy Protein Concentrate, Milkfat, Apocarotenal (Vegetable Color), Soy Sauce Powder (Wheat, Soybeans, Salt), Spices, Citric Acid, Natural Butter Flavor, Natural Flavors, Annatto (Vegetable Color), Whey, Dried Onion, Dried Mushrooms. Contains Milk, Soy and Wheat.
I think grains are a definate for me...I'll try barley. And some nutritional yeast.
My ideas for ingredients:
Mushrooms
Grain of choice, sprouted
Onion
Nutritional yeast
Braggs liquid aminos
Parsley
Then something oily/fatty to bind.

That sounds good, I'd like to add some raw corn, maybe water chestnuts (are they raw?)

I've never heard of water chestnuts
I was thinking maybe some peas and carrots too.
Peas have a .....smooth and creamy, almost fatty appeal to me.
If I can get some good seasonings in this, and dehydrate it well, we've got a recipe!

I really like Alissa's carrot/pecan burgers. I also like the Happy Cow Burgers (Maraw's recipe)
Here's the recipe: http://www.therawtable.com/recipecoll/burger.htm
By the way, Philip Morris owns the Bocca Burger company.

Oooooh....I loved those Garden and Boca burgers too! The last time I ate one I think my son was about 9 years old (he's 12 now). Now that I think about it - that child is my healthiest eater. He will eat most of the raw foods that I eat, even those "processed" in a dehydrator, while his two sisters just say yuck - that stinks!!!:D

BTW - I have not been able to find any good raw burgers and I have been wanting one. The one that I did take and chance and try was just disgusting to me. Any suggestions?:(

I think the point of this thread was to find a recipe with more veggie, less nuts....and the recipes linked to were...nut filled...lol

I agree SmilingRaw! I too like Maraw's burgers but I got the impression GG was looking for something with less nuts/seeds, more veggie based.
I'd love such recipes also!!! Thanks for asking the question GG!
I liked this burger:

Thanks:)

Veganforlife,
Thanks for the link. I love the name of the recipe and it looks good too. Can't wait to try it out. You are such a wealth of info. :)

The kind I use is an Excalibur, and yes, it's electric. I hear Alissa is going to be selling her own dehydrator sometime soon, but she sells the excaliburs now.

Could you post the recipe for the BBQ burgers? It's not on http://therawtable.com anymore.

Here is the recipe I got online months ago...
“Happy Cow” Barbeque Burger
Makes 10-12 burgers
Ingredients:
Soak together for about 3-4 hours:
1 C walnuts
1 C pecans
1 C cashews
˝ C sunflower seeds
2 dates, pitted
7 sun-dried tomatoes
---------------------
2 celery stalks, cut into chunks
2 large ripe roma or similar-sized tomatoes, cut into large chunks
2 T. nutritional yeast flakes
2 tsp. savory or dried parsley
1 T. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. minced garlic
˝ tsp. ground white pepper
1 tsp. sea salt
Preparation:
Drain soaking ingredients and rinse well. Combine all ingredients in a food processor, putting the tomatoes and celery on the bottom.
Process until “meaty” and a somewhat smooth texture is reached.
Plae 10-12 medium-sized mounds on dehydrator screen (not teflex sheets) and shape into patties – about 1” tall. Dehydrate at 130 degrees for 3 hours and then turn down temperature to 115 and continue drying for another 5 hours, then flip the burgers over.
Continue dehydrating for another 2-3 hours. Patties will keep well stored in the fridge.

Have you read Alissa's book? there are plenty of em. Well worth the investment for health.
