I am very interested in giving this a try. I think I am almost there anyway because of my diet but I am addicted to sugar.

I recenly quit smoking-almost two weeks now-and just think it is time I get my body, mind, and spirit back into balance.

What exaclty is raw? Is it as simple as eating foods without cooking them? Meaning if I go to my local grocery store and buy fruits and veggies in the produce section and just eat them, is that considered raw? or is there more to it? How does one get started with this? I wish there were some step by step introductory diet that got you rolling. I did buy some books and raw and I am waiting for them to be delivered and I also went onto some raw website and bought some raw bars just to see what they are like. But as far as a daily diet, what constitutes raw? Any pointers or direction would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you get Alissa’s book and DVDs? They are by far the best ones especially for getting you started. The DVDs make you feel like you’re in a seminar with her! The book has a whole guide also.

Yes, fruits and veggies and nuts and seeds and grain (sprouted) are raw. most people make a lot of prepared meals with them though so you don’t have to be just eating plain fruits and salads all day long. Check out the recipe section of this site as well, it’s the next forum down and you'll get lots of ideas for easy things to prepare.

Welcome aboard!

Just wanted to congratulate you on the quitting smoking. I've also just quit, about 2 weeks now too, so if you need any support drop me a line!

Congratulations. I've smoked for about 10 years now but no more than a half pack a day. I recently had to go to the hospital for severe bronchitis and have been unable to really breath since then. So I fugure, what the h*ll, why not quit while I can't smoke anyway. Sitting in traffic on my way to and from work is the hardest time for me. Chewing gum is not cutting it.

Let's stick to it and get healthy, if you think you are going to cheat, drop me a line and vice versa.
