Hey Morn...I just posted to you in the July thead.

I think my challenge is to keep up with what I'm doing now. Alternating cardio (spinning and running) with weight training. I really need to working on keeping up with the AcroYoga. Its too easy to skip a class when I can just workout at home. The problem is I miss the benefits of Yoga and the interaction with other people (partner Yoga) - something I don't get in any other setting in my life. My goal is to attend 3-4 classes and 2 casual groups in the park.

Okay, thanks for the challenge. I'm shooting for a minimum of half an hour six days a week. I think that's a reasonable start.

Morn
07-31-2007, 07:57 PM
Ok my goal is to exercise at least 4 times a week. I am working more often lately but I know this is really important so I will keep up with it. My goal is also to maintain my weight that I just took off during my fast so I know the exercise thing will be key! I plan on mixing it up - you know with different stuff - swimming, biking, aerobics, rebounding, exercise machines, etc.

Okay, I'm in, but not promising anything. How's that for non-committed committment? I have a habit of starting out really strong and burning out really fast. TKD is now out, as the owner/instructor assaulted my autistic son. And everytime I start out weight training, something gets hurt. So I have a yoga dvd from when I did it for a college class. I think I'll start with the basic on that 3 times a week and the pilates basic 3 times a week. I'll work up to the advance ones from there.

Can I post my long term idea here, or do I have to wait for the months they would come into play?;) Let me know what ya'll think.

Last month, I actually increased my strength in many ways:
- increased tricep dips
- can do 10 push-ups correctly
- strength training routine completed in 3 cycles in under an hour
- speed walking has increased
- became more flexible and more cofident with pilates
- ab work doesn't feel like torture

So, for this month, I hope to be able to hold on to this momentum and hopefully, improve. During the end of August, I will begin working out in the gym again and so my workout will change then but in the meantime, I am going to continue my strength training at home with the freeweights, stability ball, medicine ball, and the 18lb weight bar. I'm also going to continue the ab work. Hopefully, my stamina will not totally dwindle away. I'm fasting for spiritual reasons but worried about losing my muscles...I really felt a difference last month, my muscles are finally rebuilding. My specific goals are to:

- increase push ups to 20 reps each (do 3 sets)
- learn at least two new ways to workout
(I didn't get a chance to do racquetball last week, so planning on this month)
- implement some kickboxing at some point in the month
- add 2 chest exercises to my strength training program

My goal is simple: yoga and/or pilates every day plus 45 minutes of cardio 5 times a week. It is often the things that make me feel great that get put on the back burner. This month, I come first and I miss yoga soooo much. I want to feel good again.

Also, I aim to do my rebounder for 10 minutes each morning and dry brush in the morning and night.

I am in for the August Fitness Challenge! Thanks for starting this lavendarJ.

My goal is to do as many fun things that happen to be exercise as I can every day. I hope to go surfing every day and fill in other things as well like bike riding, qigong, the 5 tibetans, bodyweight training and walking in nature. I want to keep building up my level of exercise.

Before I started eating raw I didn't have enough energy for more than a one to two hour surf every day. Now I add other exercise or surf twice. I have so much more energy and motivation now. I've only been eating raw for about 2.5 months.

I went walking up and down the mountainside of Big Canoe, Ga. today looking at places to hold my raw retreats! I have no idea how long I was doing it (maybe 30 minutes or more), I was just in such awe of how beautiful everything was! So that was my exercise for today.

Okay, here's my long term plan:

The past few times I've started out with weight training, I've gotten hurt in some way, shape or form (even since being raw). So, here's the plan:

Months 1-2:
Yoga 3 times/week (dvd)
Pilates 3 times/week (dvd)

Month 3 (maybe four too, we'll see):
Add push - ups, crunches, and squats 2 out of the 6 days/week of working out to what I'm already doing

Month 4 (or five, it just depends):
Add circuit weight training in where on the days I do the push-ups, crunches, etc......

Around month 7 or so:
Replace one day of yoga and one day of Pilates with weight training

Tweak as necessary after that.

So, what do ya'll think? I'm just tired of starting hard and crashing harder, so I'm hoping this is a plan I can work with!:D

ETA: I walk sporadically too. I just see that more as fun than a have-to. And it's sporadic cause it usually depends on whether dh is around or not, so I try not to count that in case I can't get around to it.

I am sleepy but I did manage to get in a nice 2 hour trail walk with my sister. It was just a degree shy of 100 and I think the heat really tired me out. I'm going to give the strength training a try and see if my body is up for it....

Nice job shine72, rawfigure, lavendarj, and whoever else exercised today!

I went surfing today. Had to do a ton of paddling due to the nature of the surf today, which was great! I'm fully exercised!

08-02-2007, 07:55 PM
The majority of my day was spent cleaning and running around like a nut. I found out this morning, my inlaws are coming......tomorrow. So I'm counting that as my exercise for today! Lame, I know, but hey, I was moving and moving fast, so that should count, right?!:o

08-02-2007, 08:58 PM
I walked the doggie for about an hour but it was more of a leisure walk. She is one out of shape puppy and whenever we go for long distances she slows me down:D ...I'm going to top off the night with some pilates for abs and thighs and do some ab work.

Shine- I love your long term goals.

Moncha Moncha-
I bet surfing must be a great all over workout...I can see it really engaging the core...Am I right?

moncha moncha
08-02-2007, 09:28 PM
Yeah you're right, surfing definitely strengthens the core, and the rest of the body as well. Before I started surfing, about ten years ago, I had back problems but surfing took care of that quickly.

I'm keeping it up: Alternating running or spinning with weights and core work. I have yet to attend a Yoga class though! Thats next on the list.

08-02-2007, 11:33 PM
Okay so here it is 11:30 at night and I am tired and so the pilates is going to be put off until tomorrow. The fasting is starting to take effect on my physical stamina. I'll be hitting it hard and heavy in the morning...my energy levels are naturally high in the morning.

Hi everyone. I took my dog on a good walk last night too, at about 10:20pm. So I got in more than I had originally posted. The dogs walk will probably be all I get in for exercise for the next few days. But I'm okay with that, it's still better than nothing!

Hope everyone has a great day!

LavendarJ - Thanks about my long-term goals!:D

lavendarJ
08-03-2007, 09:21 AM
Good Morning!

I took the doggie for a walk that was about 50 minutes. Actually, probably only 20 minutes of it was really challenging. Angel's (the dog) getting better though-before she couldn't walk more than 15 or 20 minutes. I woke up at 4 something this morning and decided after not being able to go back to sleep to get my workout out of the way:
Strength training
standing lunges
dead lifts
chest presses
bicep curls
tricep curls
hammer curls

I still have a little more strength training to finish up (walking lunges and push-ups). I did manage to get that abs and buns & thighs pilates out of the way. It's supposed to rain today and so I don't know if I'll get out today.

Did you whip up anything for your in-laws?

Question
What's everyone's favorite type of ab work to do?

I don't like traditional sit ups much because I used to aim to do tons of them but never really saw results. Now with the pilates abs and other ab exercises that I do, I noticed that I am starting to see definition. I am thinking about trying this killer ab workout routine next week. It looks as if it promises a real challenge:

http://www.personaltrainingfitness.com/killer-ab-workout.html

I'm also always looking for standing ab moves because I figure if I'm out on the trail for an hour or two on the weekend then I can throw these in:

My favorite ab exercise is the 2nd of the 5 tibetans (http://www.lifeevents.org/5-tibetans-energy-rejuvenation-exercises.htm).

Oh yeah, I wanna join the fitness challenge too! I joined last month, then got lazy about posting (but at least not as lazy about jogging, LOL!) :D

My goals for August are mainly to keep running about every other day, and to run to the top of Black Mountain and down, which is about 15 miles round trip and 3500 feet elevation gain.

Ideally I'd like to add in some strength training or stretching or something else, but I'll have to think about what to do... it's hard for me to focus on a lot of goals at once, and when I do strength training my running always ends up suffering. Hmm.

KissyKate
08-03-2007, 07:03 PM
add me to the group please!!

I think my biggest challenge is excercising while we are in the midst of moving and are in between homes and under lots of stress. Also, I don't have my gym membership anymore.

My goal is to at least go walking and/or jogging everyday. And get some weights set up in a week or two. I also want to start swimming as well.

08-03-2007, 07:23 PM
LavendarJ - I'm whipping up food for MY family in the hopes that they will at least TRY it. But they've made it clear that I'm not to worry about their food while they're here (they are even going so far as to stay in a hotel instead of staying with us). But I'm not worried about it. You can't make anyone do anything that THEY don't want to do. I just don't want to keep hearing about the same ol' medical complaints over and over again.;)

I just spent half an hour running around the front yard dodging while my daughter was firing at me (Nerf Dart Tag). I was her target practice!:D So I got my work out in. Just think sprints, with a twist!;)

Welcome to all who just joined up with us here!

Today is my day off from exercise. Doesn't mean I won't be moving, (hello, unschooling mom of three - one has autism, you get the picture). But I won't be doing anything I would count as exercise. Tomorrow we're going to Stone Mountain. So there'll be lots of walking, and chasing my son if I know him!;)

Cinnamon
08-04-2007, 08:29 AM
Count me in too!

I am an exercise junkie! Ha! Given a choice of food or exercise I will pick exercise every single time. Being active makes me feel so good and missing just one day makes me grumpy!

Currently my routine is...

Monday-cardio and weight room
Tuesday-step class
Wednesday-cardio and weight room
Thursday-strength training class, step class, and evening yoga class
Friday-step class and weight room
Saturday-potluck (!), either a walk outside, cardio work at home, it is my one day off from the club
Sunday-cardio blast class
And walking the doggies in the evening!

I aim for 1 1/2 hours a day, include ab work and stretching, and would like to add another yoga class each week but can't fit it into my schedule at this time.

Goals-to continue gaining strength, especially for my upper body. I also hired a trainer for this month and our sessions so far have been very productive and fun! Walking a marathon next year would be a very good goal to accomplish too.

Motivation-turning 49 this month and wanting to be in the best shape ever by the time I turn 50. Just feeling the best I can and enjoying my life and lifestyle with energy and enthusiasm! I can honestly say I am THE most healthy I have ever been in my life and I thank exercise for that. Along with healthy RAW food!!

This has been an extremely busy week at work so I haven't done as much exercise as I would have hoped for this week. However, today I did an hour of rebounding and floor exercises. I got this urban rebounding DVD at a garage sale and so glad I finally plugged it in. It definately gave me some more good moves and new exercises to try.

30 minutes of rebounding
25 minutes of floor exercises
5 minutes of stretching

Hi guys...

Cinnamon you are really moving and groovin'...I love it! If you have to be a junkie, a workout junkie is preferable to any other type of junkie huh:D I love it.

Today is my free choice day. I'm not sure if I'll get out to do my walk that I planned or not with the doggie (rain). I think I may just stay inside the house and do some pilates. I just ran into another relative who told me "your wasting away"....Oh well....

Morn- I think I'm going to treat myself to a rebounder this month. Do you have the urban rebounder?

Right on moncha moncha....:)

I walked the doggie for about 35 minutes. I am going to do some pilates and that's about all I have planned; I usually don't do much on Sundays but I'm feelin' pilates for some reason. Going back to work tomorrow so any trail walks we do now will be in the evening. The chaotic schedule is about to begin...

Cinnamon
08-05-2007, 09:28 AM
I agree, if I have to be a junkie then a workout one isn't too bad!

Today is a cardio blast class and I think I'll do some weight training too or an "ultimate strength" training class. Hopefully walking in the afternoon since we will be having another lovely day here in the Seattle area.

Have a great day everyone!

lavendarJ
08-05-2007, 01:26 PM
Okay, so I've lost the thrill for pilates for today and so I'm just going to do some ab stuff. It is soooooooooooo hot here...this humidity that we are famous for...makes me wanna stay in the house all day. I've taken the doggie out about 3 more times since this morning and so that's it for me and the pilates - the sun is draining.

Exercise – 1 hour

45 minutes rebounding & abs
15 minutes of floor exercises - inner and outer thighs & buns

Lavender J - No I have one I got a Kmart for around $40.00 - I think it is by weider (the company that makes a bunch of weight equipment). The DVD I am doing is by Urban Rebounder. I got it free at a garage sale! I couldn't find any rebounding exercise DVD's at the store and then I got this one for free!

Nice free dvd Morn - those are the best kind.

Today I went surfing and then rode my bike. We have this trail that goes along the beach. I can ride a few blocks down to the water from my house and then follow the trail for about 10 miles down the coast. It's a really neat trail. It starts out along these really tall cliffs above the water. After a couple of miles you ride through the harbor and the trail goes along the beach.

the_lab_rat
08-05-2007, 10:16 PM
moncha moncha, that trail of yours sounds neat! I love hiking/biking/jogging along beach trails. It must be awesome living right near the ocean!

Well, in the spirit of stupidity--uh, I mean..adventure! yeah, in the spirit of adventure, I figured why wait until the end of the month to accomplish my goals? Why not do it right now? So I decided to run up Black Mountain today. The storm clouds looming over it were a bit intimidating, as was the cold wind coming down (and me in only a little tank top and short shorts), but I thought what the heck, now is as good a time as any, so I just did it :D

Now, there were a few parts right near the top during a 1-mile stretch of really steep uphill where I don't think you could really call what I was doing 'running.' I'd hesitate to even call it 'jogging' or 'walking'... perhaps 'waddling' or 'staggering' or 'plodding'... Yes, thank you thesaurus.com, I think that gets the idea across perfectly :p

Anyway, I don't even know how far I ran...all the trail signs say different things. So it was somewhere between 14.2 and 18 miles. I trust the map I have and will go with 16 miles and 3500 feet elevation gain. Then I came back and ate an entire 3 pound melon. Oh, and about 17 figs. Yeah baby.

So that was my day... I hope everyone else is rawkin' this fitness challenge and feelin' the burn! :D G'night!

That is really the way it should be though - than it isn't like a chore or a thing to do on the to do list - it is on the want to do list! Thats how I feel about roller blading, biking and swimming. Which it doesn't seem like I am doing a whole lot of right now. Humm! I might have to squeeze in some of those things this week. :D

I need to really think about a fitness plan. I make plans and can't live up to them. Well, "can't" is an exaggeration. More like I don't

I wanted to do 40 minutes of Pilates everyday, then free weights on the arms, then run for two miles in the morning and then belly dancing in the evening. I think that is too much.

So how about this?
Pilates for 30 minutes. Running 2 miles. AM
Bellydance 30 minutes. Free arm weights PM

Menat,
That's a lot for one day! Your body needs time to rest and recover between workouts. If you're exercising every day, morning and evening, that probably isn't adequate recovery time and you may end up getting worn out--or risk getting injured. Maybe if you spread out that routine over 2 days instead of morning and evening, then you'd have a longer break before doing the same exercise again. Just a thought :) Anyway, good luck with whatever routine you decide on! I hope you can find something you enjoy and can stick with. Keep posting in here, I find it really helps me stay motivated when I have people I'm accountable to :D

I created a more realistic fitness program.

I can't help it but I love Pilates because it prevents my back from hurting throughout the day. So I think I will use Pilates as a form of morning stretching daily for about 20 minutes.

After Pilates...

Mon. Wed. Fri. = Bellydance for 30 minutes
Tue. Thu. Sat. = Running for 30 minutes

Weights (arm bells)
light (1lbs) for 5 minutes = on Running days
Heavy (5lbs) for 5 minutes = on Bellydance days

So in all I am about getting 1 hour of exercise a day but have Sunday off.

lavendarJ
08-08-2007, 10:33 AM
Sounds like you got it all worked out Menat...I knew you could do it. I didn't get to do my pilates yesterday; just the strength training and I just said oh well. I used to hate when my routine was thrown off but once I stopped making a big deal of it and allowed myself to "swap" this for that and gave myself Saturday as a make up day for something or a free choice day it made all the difference in the world. Now, I change my routine quite frequently.

My strength training program I made up for myself last month is about do change in another week. It seems like I'm tweaking something every month now and it's okay with me. I don't feel bound to my written workout plan. We all RAWK....

Forgot to post what I'm gonna do..so busy flapping my lips about other stuff:D

I just wanna get in a good challenging trail walk and I will be happy with that. It is about 102 degrees again. I can take the heat, it's our infamous humidity we get. It's like walking around in a sauna that you can't escape.

So, the walk probably won't happen around 7 or 8-ish tonight.

Hey all! I had the best workout today! First, I had to climb a fence to go look at this property (200 acres). (My behind is still big enough that I really SHOULDN'T have been trying to climb a fence - in flip-flops!) And then we walked ALL over those beautiful acres and a good clip and had to climb the fence to get back out. This was in the Georgia heat, but it was SO much fun!

In light and love,

I should have done yoga this morning, but I didn't wake up in time, so I'll be doing it this evening!:D

Okay so here's the deal...the walk didn't happen yesterday because we wanted to wait until later because of the extreme heat and low and behold, there were these big LOUD bugs outs...I can't think of the name of them but they only come around every 12 years or something like that...Needless to say, I greatly dislike all bugs and insects and to have them in swarms like that turned me all the way off:D I'm walking with the heat today before those things come out. Also, I didn't do my strength training. My stomach turned on me after eating a salad instead of sticking to the juices right after fasting. I'm ready to RAWK today though.

Oh yeah, so far all I ate as far as solid foods go, was a pint of yummy blueberries. I had one pint at 8:30 and I'll have anothe at around 12:30. The blueberries are 5 pints for 10 dollars...the grocery stores are doing a lot to support the Blues (local hockey team) and their "blue" things have special prices this week..... I bought 5 of course, two for me and the rest for my sister and kids. I would try to do something with them if I could think of something before scarfing them down:D

10 minutes of abs

Moncha Moncha, 50 situps isn't much to me, I know people do more then that. I use to do like 100 a night but I know people that do like 400.. That's way to much for me and I guess 50 is way to much for me, I have cramps going on in and off for about 5 minutes. I felt like I was being attacked.

Docsharp: awesome job with the situps! 50 sounds like a lot to me--I can only do about...8 :p Hey, keep it up and soon you'll be up to 400 too!

Well, I've decided to join either a yoga class or some other kind of group exercise class. There's a studio nearby I like the looks of... gonna check it out tomorrow and see which class I want to join. I'm not gonna cut back on running (hopefully another 10 miles tomorrow) but I'm just not seeing the weight loss results I'd like. I've pretty much reached the maximum amount I can physically run right now, so I think the answer is to add in another different type of exercise and also work on increasing my mileage gradually. I like outdoor activities SO much more than indoors...but I really need something scheduled right now so I'll stick with it :/

My goal for this month would be half an hour of pilates mat excercises (working up towards the whole advanced program) and half an hour of belly dance drills. On a daily basis.
I've started in July with the pilates beginner program and worked up to the program above. Except that I don't do the whóle advanced program yet. And don't do it évery day yet. But I do it most days and am happy I have come this far. Now, to stáy on track and better myself.
Maybe, if I have reached my goal, I will change my drill routine, or I will do an intense drillprogram in the weekends, from a new dvd I just got.
But... First things first!

This weekend I did some walking on Saturday about 30 mins so I didn't meet my goal, but I did do a lot of walking when my husband and I got to Chicago so maybe I can say I did 45 mins it just wasn't a very brisk walk. Not sure on that.

Oh ya, we tried the raw restaurants in Chicago both Cousin IV's and Karyns. I have to say that Karyns was the best, it was like going to a very upscale restaurant, it was very nice. My husband ordered a burger and when it came out it looked just like a huge Mcdonalds burger with mayo, ketchup and mustard, he loved it and so did I. I actually end up having the raviolli, It was to good. We also managed to have dessert, I had the mango ice cream and he had the pecan bar or something liek that it was sooo good and rich. Got on the scale today and I'm down about 1 lbs.. It's great eating this way..

I guess I need to post my Raw Restaurant review in another thread but I thought I'd share this with you all.

Went surfing today. It was sunny and warm. The waves were really tiny so I paddled from one end of the beach to the other and back. That was easily the farthest I've ever paddled. Surfed some little waves along the way. Also just layed there floating for awhile. It was really nice.

I went to the beach yesterday and the waves were tiny. I wasn't going to surf. But some guy said to me from across the parking lot, "I'm going to prove that it can be surfed!" That got me motivated so I went out there with him and had so much fun. I caught tons of tiny little waves. Ha ha.

docsharp: Hey, uncooking is exercise too! All that washing and chopping... :D

beppa66: Way to rock that stairmaster! Ohmygosh, I LOVE yoga!! It's amazing. I'm hopelessly addicted! :p

So today: Bikram yoga! Tomorrow: more yoga! Saturday: even more--oh no, I'm gonna be gone Saturday! I predict major yoga withdrawl :p LOL

Anyway, so yeah, I'm loving this so much. Weird because I took another kind of yoga class before (uh..the one that begins with a 'k' I think?) and didn't really "get it." I think it was too slow-paced for me and I got bored, but Bikram is perfect! I loooove the heat! You seriously sweat like a gallon, which must be great for detoxing. I think that's why it jump-started my weight loss--my body must've been clinging desperately to a bunch of toxins and garbage, but through yoga it's finally allowing me to release them all. The difference is amazing, especially around my stomach-area and hip bones...yeah, I have hip bones, who knew? LOL

(Although.. my one complaint is...the yoga studio kinda smells like dirty feet...hahaha! But it's a small price to pay :D )

Alrighty, keep on rawkin the workouts, everyone! Work up a sweat! Feel the burn!

Ok, so I've changed my plans.
This August I will just do as I please.
Whether it be pilates, yoga, bellydance or whatever.
It doesn't matter if I do it for 5 minutes or an hour, as long as I do it and as long as I love it.
I will take it by the moment.
I love (and need) to be playful about it :).

Hey Hey Hey!

Glad to see new peeps on here! Sorry, I haven't been able to do a daily post...but it's like I said about August...it's wild crazy and chaotic. I have been fasting and felt the need to be really really concentrated and not on the net so much... My exercise routine is still the same.Yet, I didn't do a lot of stuff that I usually do though, In fact, I think I totally fell off my exercise wagon. I mainly just focused on walking for my cardio (walking the doggie)...I'll be buying a bike soon this month and so I'm excited about that....I've been really preoccupied with fasting and thinking about what I'm going to do with the next 4 months of this year (kinda frustrated and wondering if I will be finished with a book of poems I want to publish this year) Okay, let me stop myself before I get into a rambling frenzy!

I'm glad to see you guys keeping the exercise groove going and I'm kicking it into high gear again. My routine will probably be changing in September. I just wanted to say hello to everyone...

lavendarJ, I hope you can find a Bikram studio close to you! It's such a peaceful experience afterward, like the heat and hard work allow you reach a deeper level of consciousness or something. I can't even do all the postures yet but it's still amazing, and I notice improvements with each class. You'll love it! Oh, and I'd love to hear more about your poetry...what kind of things do you like to write about?

So, more yoga today! I'm truly addicted! Was going to do a double, but ran out of time preparing for vacation. Oh well. When I get back, I've gotta find a studio I can afford for the few weeks before my 1st paycheck.

I guess everyone took the day off yesterday? I didn't do a "workout" per se today. But I did do weeding and trimming in the front yard a little while ago and it involved squating, pulling, jumping (onto the shovel and off, onto the shovel and off....), bending and lifting. Plus it was ninety degrees and I don't even WANNA know the humidity factor today.

So, all that to say, I'm going to count that as my workout (and a trip to the sauna;) )!

Saturday I did 30 minutes of one-minute intervals of walking (3.3 mph) then jogging at 4.7 mph on the treadmill. Then I did 30 minutes of swimming.

Today I did 30 minutes of the 1-minute intervals of walking and then jogging at 4.8 mph. Then I went to change to go swimming and my swimsuit zipper broke :( Good thing it broke in the shower BEFORE, rather than in the pool :p That would've been a wonderful sight to show the rest of the people at the gym!

Go Kimbi!

Okay, so I tried doing the push-ups (girlie version for now), crunches, and squats today........

Let's just say, I shoulda kept working out after stopping TKD. It was pretty pathetic.

Push-ups - 10
Crunches - 50
Squats - 10

Upside is, at least now I know what my baseline is!;) :o

Hello Friends...

Just quickly checking in. I'll be switching up the routine soon. I bought a workout DVD to have as another standby in the abscence of a gym or when time constraints exist. It's Denise Austin's Boot Camp Total Body Blast. I like it because it offers two 20 minute workout options. They are cardio boot camp and strenth boot camp- the first workout has intervals of things like kick boxing and sports drills; the other one is all about strength training cardio and weights are reccomended. There is also a bonus 10 minute segment that provides stretching moves and is focued on improving flexibility. Okay, that was my big splurge this week. Enough about that...I'm really sleepy..nodding with the laptop sliding off my lap:D

Way to go Kimbi. Codajess last week I had just returned from the gym and my spagetti strap on my workout top went ZING! So I can relate!!!! Shine those squats and crunches will get you buff in no time!

As for me weights & stairs today...broken record...zzzz.
Need to mix it up a bit.

Hey everyone----told ya August was going to be crazy...I wish I could check in more, still focused on the same stuff I posted at the beginning of the challenge; I will probably take a look at my goals for August and then rethink some things, tweak some things and make some changes for September.

Keep it Rawkin!

I did the 5 tibetans and went surfing today. I may go for a bike ride in a bit.

Friday I went camping with a friend. We hiked in to a campsite and hung out on a relatively remote beach. It was pretty awesome.

Sorry I haven't posted in over a week, well I re made my goals but I think I set them to high. After doing 1 hour of walking I was unable to exercise for about 4 days because my ankles were hurting then I did another 1 hour and I was just ouf of it so I'm changing my goals back to 30 minutes cardio and weight lifting as well as situps. I think I need to stick with this until I lose a few more pounds.

Last weekend I went to a gathering that included a potluck. I was in the house alone with everyone outside, scoping out the table..... not a good scenario right there! I usually find if I'm in an arguement about whether or not to eat cooked, I usually lose. So, I'm looking at all of the sickening yummy cooked food, going all diabolical, you know. And what do I find but a crock labeled, "Raw Organic cucumber cilantro soup!" And it was really good! Come to find out there were some other raw foodists there, of all things. Saved my day. Thank goodness.

I've been strictly raw for a good month now, and for the most part it's been reasonably easy with some occasional challenging food cravings. It's just trippy! Last night I had a dream about eating cooked food,, not enjoying it, and feeling guilty. And I'm a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, so I know all about addiction patterns. I also know if I stick it out, it gets easier.

Thanks for letting me unload!

Great story Stina. Imagine finding unexpected raw food at a potluck! How awesome!

I surfed to day. We finally had some overhead waves. It's been awhile since I surfed something meaty (so to speak, haha). It was a blast.

Hi just checking in.
Decided to mix things up so we went snorkeling and rented a kayak in the keys...and started out the day by jogging. (monday)

Dropped mom off at the airport and hit the gym for 55min stairs and weights. (tues)

Today is my b-day and my dh is taking me out for dinner, so better head to the gym ... but the beach sounds like WAY more fun! (:

Hope you all have a great day & you exceed all of your goals!

PS. Stina that is really cool. The raw thing is really taking off!!!

I'm up for it too RowanC! :)

I'm painting a house. It has a really thick stucco on it. I have to push the roller really hard to get the paint all the way in the nooks and crannies. It's great exercise!

I'm off for a surf. It's foggy and mysterious!

Edit: Yesterday I surfed. There was no wind whatsoever so the waves were perfectly smooth. It was amazing.

Good morning!

I did my pushups - 10 (however, I went from doing ten with like 3-4 breaks in between and just barely being able to get them out, to doing ten with no break and just barely getting them all out. And these are girlie version! )
crunches - 50 (went from having one or two breaks in there to just knocking them out
squats - 20! I was able to do 20 and my legs and buttocks were sore before I even started! Oh happy day!:D

Hi Everyone- I just wanted to check back and say Hello. I made it 100% this month, much to my amazement and gratitude. I've struggled for over a year, bouncing back and forth between raw eating and binging on junk. I trust this marks a new milestone in my life. I'm committed to being a Raw Lifer, but I take it one day at a time.

I made Alissa's recipe for Raw Ravioli tonight and give it a big thumbs up. Her book has helped me tremendously.

I'm tired, as I clean houses for a living, so my next project is to exercise on a more regular basis!

Thanks for the love and support!
Stina;)

yea, for workout music, you basically need hard-hitting euro-dance music.... nothing else does the job really. Search around on iTunes for "euro club hits" or check this link:
