has anyone tried ani phyo's book - what did you think?

I tried her "dolmas" recipe and it was really good - debating on whether to get the book or not.

Also - any reviews on David Wolfe's Sunfood Diet Success book - curious to here any thoughts about it before I spend the money;)

I've been wondering too. I wanted to buy it, but I couldn't get past the million or so photos she has of herself in the book.

If the dolmas were really good, I would take my chance and get the book. :)

I was wondering about ani's book also. Her recipes seem very quick and easy... yet tasty. and easy to get ingredients as well.

The Sunfood Diet Success System is great!! I bought it a while ago and I refer to it as my "raw bible." it is very spiritual, philosophical, and informative. I read it over and over agian when I need a lift, inspiration, or info about certain foods that i'm eating. I HIGHLY recommend it. I can't imagine my raw library without it. In fact, right now... its got the top spot (along with alissa's- for the recipes). and ok, i might have a "thing" for david wolfe. teehee

Who doesn't have a thing for David Wolfe? :) I have the old version of his Sunfood Diet book. It was the first raw book I ever read, and has been the most helpful (though, yes, I love Alissa's for the recipes, too. Ain't nobody got her beat on the recipes.) although, be forwarned, some of his poetry in the book comes off as a touch airy-fairy (but I myself happen to be somewhat airy-fairy, so it didn't bother me much). It's packed with good info, though... I agree with Sammijane; Wolfe's book has the top spot on my raw shelf.

don't know about Ani's.

I've peeked through Wolfe's book in a few stores and always come across something really interesting/useful/cool. Sometimes I even get sneaky and look something up in there that I have a question about, but don't buy the book. SHHH. :p But but but...I'm totally buying it as soon as I start my new job and get a paycheck! It really is the "raw bible."

Haven't seen Ani Phyo's book in person before, but doesn't she have a bunch of videos on You Tube that show her preparing recipes? You could try some of those to see if you like her style.

Is there a difference between the 2000 & 2006 versions of David Wolfe's
Sunfood Success - the older version is less expensive but I wanna know if the information is the same

When I first got David wolfe's book I flicked through it and didn't feel very keen on it, It was only when I read it right through cover to cover it became a different book, I LOVE this book, it inspired me no end.:)

I have her book. I too was put off by all the pictures of her, but the recipes I've made are pretty good and easy to make.

How many pics does she have of herself in the book? Is she on every page along with the recipe??

LOL, just about. There are more pictures of her eating or preparing food than there are of the prepared recipes. They aren't full page pictures bulking up the book, more inset in a page with comments beneath. It just seemed in poor taste to me, but hasn't put me off so much that I didn't buy it or use it.

Ahhh, I see. :D I wonder why she did that? People always wanna see a nice recipe with a pic and some comments or background about what's included in the recipe.

I went online to Amazon and looked at a sample of her book. She was on every page that I saw, except for the table of contents and index. Even some of the reviewers were critical of it... one called it a "a photo album made up of pictures of the author with some recipes thrown in for marketing value."

lol, there are a lot of pictures of her. but shes cute. i love her videos, she seems like such a sweetie.

i have to say this was the first raw book i bought--- before i had ever even heard of alissa. theyre really good recipes, and really easy too. and the thing i like most about it is that theres only one or two recipes where you need a dehydrator. she says that she feels food should keep its perfect balance of water, that nature makes food perfectly as it is. i agree with that, and it also makes it a great book for people without a dehydrator.

she also has a chapter at the back for raw dog food treats. lol. if youre into that. she spoils her dog.

and yeah, the curry sauce is amaaaaaaazing. lol.

its not too expensive either, compared to other books.

as for the sunfood diet.... im reading it now- im a fast reader but im going through this soooo slow because its so chocabloc with info. i like the more spiritual approach to it, all the "food and karma" stuff. and yuh, who doesnt have a thing for david wolfe? :D lol.

Yeah, David W.'s book is next on the list. I'm curious to read what he has to say. I like the spiritual aspect of raw and learning more about that besides feeling what I feel already.

yeah..i'm digging his book too. i have this book that i bought a few years ago before i even went raw, "raw and living foods: the first divine act and requirement of a holistic living way of life" by the high priest kwatamani supreme spiritual leader kwatamani family community. now..talk about some weird ish-- but in it he explains in detail the nutritional traits and health benefits of a lot of foods and what to eat to cure different illnesses...and the recipes are delicious! they sell food every year at the african world festival in detroit and after tasting some i had to go back and buy the book, and i'm glad i did.

I agree, I bought the book a few weeks ago and know I will be making a lot of the recipes. Of course I buy every raw book (well almost!) that hits the market!

Ani has a bunch of videos up on youtube. I've made a few of her salad dressings and they are very good.
