I have been really wanting to make chocolate covered strawberries but have no idea how to make the chocolate covering raw ... I tried looking it up here but after lots of searching I came up empty handed ... I have raw cocoa powder ... If I just mixed that with water or oil would that work? :p

All chocolate coating recipes welcome and appreciated:)

Mix the cacoa with agave and coconut oil. As long as you keep it chilled, the oil will stay hard and it'll be great!

I would take the raw cacao, mix with coconut butter (oil when warm), then put the choc. covered berries in the fridge. You may wanna add a touch of agave...

oh one more question ... If I bought cocoa butter would that work too? since it's solid at room temp. I think it would be less messy than coconut oil.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your last question.
Regarding the chocolate issue, however, you may want to consider Artisana (company brand) Cacao Bliss. I just got some in the mail- yum. It's very rich, reportedly all raw, and the cacao, agave, and coconut butter are already mixed together for you.
I'm not sure if Alyssa sells the Cacao Bliss on her website. I see that she sells the Goji Bliss, although didn't see the other.

Whichever route you go, I wish you the best of luck. What a great idea for strawberries!

I made white choc covered berries with the cacao butter I ordered from Alissa's site. I just melt it and add agave and some vanilla. It is sort of thin that way...you can thicken it up by blending with a bit of cashew. And you can add cacao powder to make it darker chocolate. I would think you might not need the cashews if you add the powder b/c that will thicken it. Enjoy! I even bought some chocolate molds that I have yet to use...I think I will dig them out.

Question: how do I melt coconut oil so that it's liquid instead of the semi-hard stuff that I have?

I mix raw cacoa, agave, and coconut butter too. Dip the strawberries in and chill. The chocolate harderns on the berries in the fridge because of the coconut butter so you need to keep them cool so the chocolate doesnt melt. Easy and delicious!!

Either in a warm room, or in the sun, or I've taken it and either put some in a bowl and put it in the microwave or put in a container and set in a bowl of warm water.

After reading this thread, I did this last night with the last few strawberries I have and some bananna slices. I left them in the frig and they look all nice and hard.

I used Chocolate Rocks (a raw chocolate that looks like milk chocolate that I got from Natural Zing but too bitter to eat by themselves), coconut butter, yacon syrup and some water in my blender to make it into a fondue type chocolate liquid. It is nice and sweet. I even have some left over!

It was so easy too.

The coconut butter/Oil sorted of melted up in my blender when I blended but it is in the 80s here so it was already melted. I keep mine on top of my refrigerator which keeps it soft.

I ended up using garden Granny's chocolate sauce because I couldn't find coconut oil in the stores around my house ... I cut my strawberries in half a dipped them in the chocolate sauce ... It was good even though it didn't harden like it would with the coconut oil ...

The recipe is very simple ... 2 teaspoons agave, 2 teaspoons raw cocoa powder, and one teaspoon water to thin it out.
