Anyone ever try one of those or heard anything good or bad? Sure save some money!

Nope. But I'm one that if I know I'm going to use an appliance and continue - I'll buy new. I don't want someone else's problems...

I know that with some electronics, the refurbished items are often superior to those that come right out of the factory because they are rebuilt using superior parts. Can't say for sure with a vita-mix though.

I did see a refurbished model on the vita-mix website, it came with a 7 year warranty if I'm not mistaken.

I've bought refurbished items before and never had a problem. I agree with TimS that sometimes the refurbished items are often superior after being rebuilt. I have been able to save money buying refurbished. In fact, if it's costly item, I always ask for refurbished first. Sometimes you have to push because the company will tell you they don't have refurbished. After I push back, they miraculously come up with the refurbished product - rather than lose the sale altogether.;)

If you are buying it directly from the company not only is it cheaper but they also come with a warranty so it's a win-win situation!
