I have read everything from this thing is GREAT to it is a piece of plastic junk. Is this going to be a personal preference thing? I have read that those who hate it just didn't read the instructions but then some have said it broke after only a few uses. I can't find any online stores in Canada so looking at Ebay and the shipping is more then the product so really going "hmmmmmm"
I just know I need to make fake pasta since I love it and the various sauces!

We use ours at least once a week. Thumbs up.
You can just use a potato peeler for a wider noodle.

I got a Joyce Chen Spiral Slicer from my local kitchen store. Other places like Bed, Bath, and Beyond carry them. I think it was about 20 bucks. Love it!

Alissa carries it. So once you place an order for some of her cacao or truffles or whatever - you could order one through her:

I have the one Alissa carries, and it works great. I use it once a week too.

Get a Spirooli. It is tons better and easier to use the the saladacco.

I have trouble with my Joyce Chen. They say I'm not pressing down hard enough. I try, but only get usually half of my veg to spiral. And then there's that extra piece at the top. I eat whatever comes out of it anyway.

I've only used mine (From alissa's store) for potato chips and angel hair pasta (zucchini) and had that little piece on the end. I threw the zucchini in there with the marinara sauce with the 'noodles' and ate it anyway too. Yum Yum

I own the spiral slicer as sold by Alissa and it's worked great for me for the last several years! I also own the Spirooli and I love it as it produces thicker noodles that are more like spaghetti. But I use them both!

I'm looking for a spiral slicer too but the reviews of the Saladacco/Joyce Chen one on Amazon scared me away.
Has anyone tried the Benriner one? A lady in a cooking store said it was the best. http://www.amazon.com/Benriner-Cook-Help/dp/B00012F3R2
Or THIS ONE (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-1/qid=1185869803/ref=sr_1_1/601-4449446-0710556?ie=UTF8&asin=B0007Y9WHQ) sold by Target... it kinda looks like the spirooli. Hmm.
I have the saladacco. It took me a long time to figure out how to use it. Since then, it's been OK for me.

I've heard mixed reviews on the Benriner (as with the Spiral Slicer/Saladacco) but yeah, that one from Target looks just like my Spirooli! Wow! I may get another one for classess...thanks for sharing! :)

It is great!
