Okay, I will be juicing through August and adding Metamucil in my juices for fiber. However, since I am not eating solids, will my poops be non-existant, runny (diarrhea) or be normal as pre-juicing.

Is there anything I should worry about concerning bowel movements?

When I fasted for the 2 weeks I had some dirahhea around the same time every day. I think it was related to the juice I had every night 30 minutes before I had to go.

Maybe to enemas at home or colonics?

You'll probably have watery BMs at first then your body will probably have fewer BMs as you move further into your juicing and your body is able to utilize more of the nutrients.

Personally I'd see how it goes without the Metamucil at first... you might be pleasantly surprised :)

Also, if you're concerned about fiber, maybe make smoothies instead of juicing. That way you're able to hold onto the fiber from the plant!

Good luck! :D

I have been considering doing a juice fast with both juices and smoothies. This eliminates (hehaw) the fiber concern and still puts the emphasis on juicing. Once the juicer is set up then juice can be made and drank or juice can be made and used as the base for the smoothie and drink that. Leaving the juicer set up allows a juice or smoothie to be consumed about every 15 to 30 minutes. Either way your getting juiced.

I wouldn't do the metameucil either. Honestly, I have NO idea what's in there! Better to use psyllium husks or powder from a health food store than a commercial drug store product.

Hey, I don't have solid info on this, but when I worked at a health food store I heard from several knowledgeable individuals that Metamucil had objectionable ingredients. Definitely not something you'd find at a health food store.... How about ground up flax?

I'm starting a fast with two friends. Because of the fiber issue, I'm actually going to do one green smoothie a day 'cause I do want to keep the bowels going. I make my smoothie very watery anyway. My fasting friend, who's a colon hydrotherapist is periodically putting ground up flax into her juices. Purists would say, hey, that's fiber! You're not fasting. But I'm doing this for cleansing this time. I recently strictly juice fasted for ten days for spiritual reasons. :)

I would not use the Metamucil either. Fresh juice will do the trick for you.

Opinion:

-If you are fairly clean internally......from having eaten fresh plant foods for many months.........and you are drinking fresh juice............and not taking medications or mixing in cooked foods...pills....etc.........then your BM's should be develop to be fairly standard and compact....and not particularly loose or runny.

-Just my experiences.

If you're doing juices as a juice fast, the point is to remove the fiber so your GI tract shuts down, but if you just want to make nutrients a little more available and digestable, then add the fiber if you wish. :)
