Well, I think the verdict is still out on whether or not it's healthy... probably one of those things that works for some people and not for others. But yeah, definitely not raw. I don't think any soy products are raw, except possibly some raw soy sauces.

I have read a lot of Dr and medical info on soy as my kids eat a lot and so did I at one point. I read they did a study on all the people who live on The Farm in TN and no one showed any ill effects but then I have met people who say they never had health problems until they ate soy so, I think it does depend on the person. And like anything else, the amount you consume, although people at The Farm apparently consume it on a daily basis.

But yeah, it's not raw at all. I read that just to get the soybean where you can make it edible it has to be heated at high temps.

Soy was actually meant to be a cover crop in Asia and ended up being food in Ford's time because it was economical.

I have a client that went on a program called Slender Health which is a shake system comprised of soy smoothies. She burned out her thyroid and is just now recovering after a few years of battling. Soy can cause major thyroid issues not to mention aggressive behaviors and breast tissue in boys, development of little girls beyond their time. It has been shown that too much estrogen causes cancer and phytoestrogens in soy play a part in that. I have another client that has estrogen receptor positive breast cancer that has spread to many areas of her body and even her allopathic physician has told her to avoid soy.

In Asia, soy makes up about 2 tablespoons of the daily diet and that may have been healthful, but in America , we have taken a cheap food and put it in school lunches and packaged foods and we are overdosing on it. Not to mention that most of it is GMO.

Soy (anything) is a highly processed food. It is also the number one reason the rainforests are getting cleared (above McD's!!). I didn't know that until last week and I was shocked. Most soy these days is also GMO, so that's most likely the reason it is so bad. The least processed (though not raw) soy is temphe (sp?) and miso.
