What benifits have you guys faced from a raw lifestyle? To be honest im not raw, or even vegan/veggie, mainly because im scared of my parents reaction...I want to be raw, despretly however im totaly unaware whether I can pull it off. I understand I wont be able to be 100% but im scared what poeple may think. Im a very light weight, im 169-170cm and I weigh aprox 45kg...I dont care about my weight, ive had a digestive problem for a long time, my appitite is rubbish, its always the case in whatever food I eat. Im desprate to cure this digestive discomfort I face day in day out...will a raw diet benifit?

Raw food heals, and if anything it will kickstart your digestion and get things moving.

And, I'm American and have no idea how big a cm or a kg is, so I can't really help you there (why are we the only ones not using metrics?!) lol! But if you're underweight, raw can help put the healthy pounds on. It might take some off first, but it's okay because your body is getting rid of the bad stuff.

It's okay to be afraid of what people will think, because it WILL be negative! I still am having arguments with people over my diet. If the argument gets to be too much, I just change the subject.

Listen to what your body wants. It's calling out for raw foods, otherwise you woudn't be here, and you certainly wouldn't be posting about it! :)

Start slow, if you need too. First work on cutting out animal products, and then whatever else you need to while incorporating more and more raw foods.

Plant the seeds now and they will grow :) (figuratively speaking ;) )

thanks for the support. Yeah you are correct if im joining a forum such as this I am obviously serious about being raw, which I assure you I am! I just had to eat cooked rubbish all day...it felt like being force fed a deathwish! Im fit and healthy and very athletic but this cooked food is making feel bloated and very depressed! I feel like not eating at all. I have to eat tomorow but I feel as if I shouldnt because of the over consumption of food...you see I was made to eat a big breakfast...then I was made to eat a large pizza which nearly made me throw up, my parents dont understand my digestion problems and just label me as a anorexic...if im anorexic how come im athletic? how come I have the energy to do sports? that never entered their minds ever! What shall I do? I have martial arts tomorow and need the energy but I need to detox somehow to get rid of this proccessed extra rubbish I have ingested!

Just tell whoever is usually in charge of your food that you would prefer to make your own food now. I still live at home (and although I am 20) I make my own food. I tell my mom not to worry about making food for me because my diet is so "extreme". I can take care of myself, I know what my body wants to eat :)

Drink some green smoothies, those are energy boosters and they also help to flush and push everything out. There are so many recipes on here, but basically, if you can make a fruit smoothie, just add a handful of greens to it. Blend it up and enjoy!

Being on the raw path has completely changed the way I view the world aNd everything in it. Although I'm not 100% right now (it's all part of the journey...I can feel a big cleanse coming up! And hopefully I will be totally raw for many years afterwards) I still consider my self a raw foodist and it has helped me tremendously. I will write more later because i have to go!

I can totally relate to you...though I'm not 100% raw, and I haven't exactely announced my taking onto the 60% raw food diet, but I have been making a lot of raw food lately, usually with a raw dessert for breakfast, and some salad with lunch and dinner, that my mom usually prepares. Or, I sometimes make my own lunch.

I can't tell whether my parents are approving of it or not...like I said, I just make raw food soemtimes, I haven't told them that I think I might be interested in being a raw foodist...but, oh well. It's blanced eating to me...I'll expand my intake of raw food as I get older, and learn to create more of my own stuff I suppose.

For those not used to the metric system:
45 kg = 99 pounds
169 cm = 5'7"

At this weight and height, your BMI is 15.7, which is dangerously underweight. Because you're athletic, you have more muscle mass, which makes your low weight even more severe. Fortunately, being on a raw food diet does not automatically equal weight loss. I have not lost a single pound by going raw. With lots of calorically dense foods such as nuts, seeds, avocados, bananas and raw honey, you could even gain some much needed healthy weight on a raw food diet. And raw foods would almost certainly help your digestive system.
Without even eating more raw foods, you could give your digestive system a boost and your body a cleanse by drinking warm water with fresh lemon juice first thing in the morning.
