didn't get any results by doing a week of raw food only, so, yesturday, I ate pizza!!

I am so upset with myself. Yet, I did it because I just wasn't seeing the results you all are talking about. Not one thing was different.

Oh, well.

It is so frustrating, I'll tell you.

Awww Wendee...
I know how frustrating that can be. Well, listen, give yourself a hug and dust yourself off. If this is really a journey you want to embrace then keep the faith. It's a rough ride at times but just try to hang tough...cause now that you've eaten that pizza you'll probably have that little voice telling you that you might as well try some of this and some of that and that little voice will even tell you just eat what you want and start over in August....sometime a little slip will try to tempt you keep sliding....Just try to remember why you embarked upon this journey in the first place and think about your motives...Just take your time, you ate the pizza... today is a new day arm yourself with knowledge and lots of yummy live food. Don't let this get you down...I've been there before, push past it, shove if you have to....

yeah, I slip regularly, unfortunately, but it's progress not perfection for me. After practicing for a year, I'm definitely grateful to be high Raw. I remind myself that I'm consuming the most raw food on a regular basis than I ever have in my life. And it shows, I'm energetic and happy and people tell me I look good and got good color in my face. Several times I've made it a month being 100% raw and I do want to be wholly raw in the future, so it's a goal I'm working towards.
The mornings I take the time to meditate are the days I can stay totally raw. I seem to set a vibe and walk around in a bubble of safety then. :) Just don't give up! I just don't let myself get discouraged where I throw away the willingness to try. :)

well.... you've gotten a lot of good advice here. I noticed you're a 'sprout' so -- you aren't new to the rft. One week raw is a wonderful accomplishment. But I think yu realize it's going to take more than one week of raw foods to really see the amazing changes you have read about.

I'm sure you've seen the pictures Morn posted - that took her 10 months!

My first month raw - the only thing I noticed my first week was that I felt kinda crappy! ;) :D I was sleepy... started to get cranky... ;) ..

If you can make it one week - you can make it two! then three and four... and from there - who knows! this is an amazing journey wendee.. and I believe yu really do know and understand this -- cuz you're a SPROUT!! not a seed... you've been around this raw foods a while now...

I think it was just a small little hiccup and you'll be right back on the road to vibrant life! truly - nbd ...!! Just make wise choices ~ healthy choices.... RAWK ON GIRL... jump right back on! it's so worth it!! :D

No worries about falling off the wagon. You'll find that you do it less and less as time goes by. It gets easier and the best thing you can do for yourself is to just start fresh the next day. Cheers!

If you want to see quick results, try juice fasting for a week and than go raw for another week.

I have sooo been there myself recently - fell off the wagon big style last weekend. But you know what? It's a learning curve - how did you feel after eating the pizza? I felt rubbish and lethargic.

And tho you haven't experienced all the benefits of raw yet, you will get there.

Just look at the bigger picture, find yourself a few scrummy fall back recipes for when you get SAD cravings - i use eggless egg spread to tackle my craving for chips! - and keep moving forward xxx

Wendee, don't worry!! As people said, if you fell off you can ALWAYS get back on again no problem!

I always find that if I compare my healing to the healing of others than it is not good for me at all. I just compare myself now to how I used to be. For me it is a slow progress but I don't think of the word "slow" I think of "progress".

I fell off a few weeks ago and had potato wedges and they made me feel so awful and not just physically. I can safely say I would never want to feel like that. So sometimes I think if you turn it around and think of these little slips as a positive thing to remind you at least how not good you will feel if it were to happen again.

Much love x

Two words:
Green Smoothies.

They (gs's) don't allow the wagon in their neighborhood! LOL!

Seriously, they so help with cravings and hunger.

Rarely will you find a person who has not/does not slip from time to time. I think that the most important thing is to remember why you're doing this. What are your goals? And, give it some time... Honestly, what standard diet would you be on that would give you LASTING results in only 1 week???? If this is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE for you, can you HONESTLY change the way you've eaten ALL OF YOUR LIFE in only ONE WEEK? Come on now.... Hey, I just had a weak moment yesterday! But, I'm NOT letting that stop me! I'm a WORK IN PROGRESS!!! :) So, don't give up! You'll achieve the changes you want, but not giving up is the key! :)

Ohhhhhhh, so that's what 'sprout' and 'seeds' are. :) I've been wondering.

I have been trying to go raw since January or February of this year! And every time I sign up for a 30 day challenge, I'm lucky if I get through the first week. Of course there have been a lot of trying events in my life the past several months, which has only added to the stress of disappointing myself.

When I first got interested in raw, I read that very few people who take it up do it pure 100% from the first day and never mess up. Those people are the Exceptions! Being raw is a huge adjustment. It changes the way we cook, shop, think; and to some extent I think it influences our social lives as well. I mean, would we even be on these boards if we weren't interested in raw?

In terms of the benefits of raw, everyone is different. Some experience changes from day one, others it takes awhile longer. I tend to go through pretty harsh detox, though lately my skin has been clearing up which is no small miracle!

Hugs to you,

Shoney

Wendee...

No big deal. You fell off, so get back on :)

The great thing about falling off is that you get to feel exactly what SAD food does to a healthy body. Nothing like that for reminding yourself!

You can do it! :D

Hear, hear... I'll second that!

I used to drink green smoothies intermittently. I currently have TWO ROWS of kale in my garden, making it that much easier to indulge in daily smoothies.

I'm newly 'back on the wagon' myself. VeganForLife and Douglas are two RFT stars that are proponents of the green smoothies. Their enthusiasm has prompted me to ensure daily green smoothie intake, and I'm lovin' it! No cravings, increased energy, etc. (I think we should make billboards advertising green smoothies. Using a spin-off of the 'milk mustache' campaign, we could do a 'green smoothie mustache' campaigne, using VFL and Douglas as our models!) (Someone else may have posted this idea before on RFT- Please forgive me if this isn't an original thought!)

Sorry, everyone... I'll get off my 'green smoothie soapbox' now!:D

I just e-mailed one of our Raw stars on the board and asked her to be my buddy for a month. I need to be accountable to someone until I gain enough momentum to have an established habit with eating raw.

Raw is a lifestyle not jumping on a *bandwagon.*

As someone who..yes~I'll admit it~yo-yo's like crazy from Raw & off & has been here over 2 years..I always say it's how you look at the journey & how you bounce back from eating SAD.

I feel physically sick when I don't eat raw, but I just start again. I don't beat myself up-I don't think negatively, I just start a new day-meal , snack or whatever.

I do think to myself, so why did I not eat raw...well I have a ton of excuses that I could say to myself..but the bottom line is you are changing many years of eating. Personally, I believe that there are VERY few & far between that start Raw & never eat some cooked.

Start over & eat FRESH !

I fell off too tonight...but I'm not worried. I've been thinking why I did, and why I didn't stop. I did soooo good for the last two to three days, all raw. But tonight I made dinner for my crew, and while cleaning up I ate a potato skin and some meat....and I haven't eaten meat in quite a while. I feel bad, but when I beat myself up too much I'll end up quitting. I need room to grow and learn, and find my triggers. Tonight I think it was stress...I have a situation here at home with my teenage daughter.

Tommorow is a brand new day.....hopefully my fall offs will become few and far between. I've been toying with doing a juice fast, but I know it's to radical for the moment. I've had a very turbulent relationship with food and eating, and I need to examine and learn my patterns and change some things around. Eating intuitively!!! Then at some point I'll know when to do the juice thing....I'm thinking I'll add more and more juices each day, each week, and then one day boom do it...anyhow that's my plan!

i have been 100 perc for 7 months now, and the reason i have been able to stick with it is because i have stuck with the raw ideal. sometimes i will eat a ridiculous amount of dessert, and not very many days go by when i dont gorge myself on something. the transformation has been slower than other people becasue of this, but at the same time it has been faster than those who revert to sad for the same reason. i really believe in raw food, so i force myself to stick to it, and i make sure i always have some fall back food. slowly but surely i am gaining self control and figuring this out. 18 years of emotional eating is a lot to heal, and i am doing my best. i suppose it will be a number of years before i am really under control. its a beautiful journey though, and i wouldnt go back for anything. good luck and peace for your journey through raw food and life. i believe that if you remain optimistic and excited about it that you will come through on the other side stoked and successful. :)

3rd here on the green smoothies!

I'm finding that I get sucked into the cravings if I don't do really regular (like at least once per day) green smoothies!!!

They just make me feel so good!

I posted last night about my cooked food binge....well I ate some meat. Yuck!! i think I was craving the marinade it was in...it smelled good. Anyhow this morning I'm all thick and gross. I'm not hungry as I still feel full....so I've been drinking lots and lots of water...and in the shower I burped up a bit of stuff from last night....that was well over 13 hours ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's how longs it's digesting...Gross. Anyhow I'm staying on the water thing until I feel empty and not so thick and gross....and then transition to green smoothie, rejuvelac and some fruit.....Lessons learned!!!! By the way I didn't sleep one wink last night....must be the late eating ,and the stuff I ate.

I need a buddy very badly too, because I am doing not that well with raw lately. How do you find Raw Stars?
