I need help staying raw. Most my problem is that I don't know what to eat.

For breakfast, I usually have a smoothie, like this one:
2 Bananas
5oz raspberries
1 Big Bunch Collards (The last bunch was 17 collard leaves)
2tbsp cacao nibs or flax seeds

I don't want to eat more fruit because I have teeth problems and I really need to heal those.

I'd like to get in another bunch of greens in addition to the one in the smoothie, so I think that means salads.

I could see eating salads for lunch and dinner. I just need some very simple ideas as I don't have much time to make food, and I don't have any equipment other than a blender and dehydrator.

If I'm not eating any more fruit(sweet fruit) than what is in the smoothie, how can I get enough food to not feel like I'm starving?

I'll probably have some more questions but that's a start. Thanks for the help.

1 t Bragg's
Some lemon juice

supergreen,

I often have a Nori wrap. Get a nori sheet and then along one end put sprouts and tomato and avocado, onion and a little dressing. Usually I use raw mayo or type in dressings under the banana up top to see what pops up. Then wrap your nori roll and eat it. Quick easy and filling. Depending on my tummy I have anywhere from 1-3 at lunch. Also you can add whatever you have to it as well.

You could also make green smoothies with less-sweet fruits. That's always how I make mine. If I want a sweet green smoothie, I use apples (granny smith or something sweeter), greens, flax, maca, fresh ginger, cinnamon, strawberries, & stevia if it needs to be sweeter. It's so yummy and very easy way to get in greens without as much sugar.

Also, you can make savory green smoothies with greens, avocado, cucumber (this is key), celery, lemon (also key), lots of herbs (parsley, cilantro, basil, etc), sea salt, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, etc. These are awesome!

To add some variety, if you're tired of salads I second the idea of nori wraps, or a nice pate or dip will usually hit the spot. I like to make mine with seeds, like sunflower or pumpkin. Or, my other favorite thing is to make zucchini pasta. This requires some sort of spiralizer, but they're cheap (around 20-30 dollars) and so awesome. Then you can make marinara, pesto, alfredo, whatever you like. Slightly more time consuming than a smoothie, but I can usually have pasta done in less than 15 minutes.

A couple of my favorites are:

Raw soups
Assorted veggies with a dip
Lettuce wraps

These are so quick and easy to make, and they can be varied in numerous ways for a different meal each time. :)

Do you have Alissa's book? If not, check out her site and order it: www.AlissaCohen.com ...it will help you out TREMENDOUSLY!!! I hope that you do find your RAW way, but I found the quote at the end of your post really sad.... :( ...and inaccurate...

supergreen,

I often have a Nori wrap. .

I have a question about the Nori wraps!

I bought some and they are too chewy. They are like cardboard that
my teeth can't chew..

Is there a way to prepare them first so that they are easier to eat?

I find it offensive.

I find it offensive.

Sorry. It's probably not such a good quotation. I put it in there because I am a Christian, but I struggled more and more to come to grips with a God that would send the majority of His children to roast in physical and emotional anguish with no hope of an end. That would be monstrous and no person would wish that upon their worst enemy, so how could a loving God see it fit to do that? Then I happened upon some resources that suggested that the concept of eternal hell has no biblical basis(when translated correctly) - that all punishment is ultimately purgative and that all people will eventually be "saved" though for some it will be "as through fire." And that really hit a chord. Then God could in fact be a God of love.

Basically the quote was a criticism of the seeming unwillingness of many Christians I know to question the doctrine of eternal torment, and their seeming casual acceptance of it. It probably doesn't serve much purpose on this forum.

I already had a new one in mind that is nicer and I'll put that in there.

Okay, I guess I'm CLEARLY not the philosophical type or maybe I'm tired and reading the quotation incorrectly but this is how I interpret it...

I no longer have a enemy when I make them my friend. (my enemy has been 'destroyed' and has been replaced as my friend) In my opinion, that's a pretty good thing to do!

Supergreen, I too am a Christian but hesitate to denote myself as such given the inaccuracies of Protestanism that are instantly associated with the word. Would you email me the sources you mentioned that discuss the translation issues? Thank you!

I think it was changed before you saw it. The old one was as follows:

"God so loved the world that he made up his mind to damn a large majority of the human race" — Robert G. Ingersoll

It's based off the verse John 3:16 that says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that whomever believed in Him would not perish but have eternal life"

I think the guy was an agnostic. But I saw the quote on a genuinely Christian site. In my view it's meant to be taken sarcastically. Basically it's saying, gee, God must have REALLY loved the world if He intends to fry most of us for all eternity.

Hi there,

Please don't be afraid to eat more fruit. Fruit does not cause teeth problems. I think it's a good idea to rinse your mouth out after eating ANYTHING, including fruit, but other than that, you don't need to take any special precautions with your teeth just because you are eating raw. Fruit is our natural food. I eat 99% fruit and have zero teeth problems after four years. Fruit will help keep you feeling satiated with is very important to staying raw.

Blessings,

Audrey

Several years ago I did a load of research on sugar and its effects on the body. I don't have any sources for you as I've reformatted my computer twice since then. It's complicated, but.... The reason sugars (processed) harm teeth is because your body requires calcium (and other minerals) to metabolize the sugars. Your body will pull from your calcium stores (bones/teeth) in order to digest refined sugars. This wouldn't normally be an issue unless one eats refined sugars with every bite....like most of the SAD foods eaten today. (HFCS) Yes, if you don't wash the sugars off your teeth it will cause problems, but not nearly as fast as one who ingests refined sugars with every meal. Fruit sugars are different, they aren't refined.

Now if you are talking about sensitivities, then I don't know what to tell you.

Well, thanks for clearing that one up ! (regarding the change in quote). I couldn't figure out what was so awful about Lincoln's quotation. NOW, I see what everyone was meaning!

Thanks
