View Full Version : Raging thirst
I did 30 days very high raw (ate about 8 cooked things over the course of 30 days). Now I've been 100% for 6 days. My skin is miserably broken out -- but I've heard this is a common detox symptom so I'm trying to take it in stride.
But this crazy, unslakable thirst! Is this normal? Even with all the fruits and veggies, I can't seem to drink enough water to satisfy. Have others experienced this?
Thanks for any insight.

Could you be eating a lot of salt from shoyu, celtic salt or dulse ??
but then again your body could have woken up and said wow I am becoming right ,I also need a lot of water to go a long with this nutrients ,like your body is getting "on track" -so drink up!
Thanks for the ideas. I am having a bit of salt in dressings and marinades, but this is nothing new. Maybe this is a detox thing like you suggest. I sure hope so. I've always heard that abnormal thirst is a sign of diabetes. Not to be paranoid or anything. :)

I'd have to agree it sounds like detox and your body is telling you just what it needs to help flush junk out of your system. ;)
I went through this also, after an extended fast and several days totally raw. It lasted several days. No amount of water would slake the thirst, so I drank and drank and drank...Since your thirst is accompanied by other detox symptoms, it's likely that yes, it's detox.
Because water is most easily absorbed/processed in fruit/veg form, it helps to eat water-rich produce (papaya, melon, citrus, zucchini, tomato, etc.) in addition to drinking water.
Happy guzzling! ;)
You know, now that you mention it, I've been out of some of the jucier fruits and veggies, and eating a bunch of bananas and nuts. That does it -- must get to the store!
Thanks again, amigas y amigos :)

My husband is going through the skin break out thing too. After a few days, I had him do a clay mask and sit in the sun. It's gotten (is getting) better finally. Seems a lot longer than it was.
Not gone through the insatiable thirst stage yet, melons seem to be a really good answer. Sounds as though your body is craving something to assist in the cleansing process.
Injoy ~

I am not a medical professional but I spent three weeks at Hippocrates Institute and I recall this being discussed a bit. I believe that this kind of thirst problem is also a common symptom of diabetes. It may be possible that your blood sugar is going haywire if you are eating a large number of bananas and other fruits or if you are drinking a lot of fruit or carrot juice. If this persists you may want to get tested for diabetes. If you have diabetes you may want to avoid fruits or only consume the lower sugar fruits (like most berries) and avoid juices that have a lot of sugar (like carrot juice).
