I would like to try and go raw, not only because of the health benefits but because I am about 60 pounds overweight and rather unhealthy now. I have family and friends that are partially raw, lots of salads etc but are not 100% raw.
Is it possible to eat too much raw food that I won't lose weight? I've seen threads here that say that some people eat 5 or 6 bananas every day, can someone do that and still lose weight?
I was thinking about doing lots of smoothies, green and fruit. I love pinapple, coconut, banana with coconut water. Could eat that almost all day and be happy.
What do you think? I tend to lose weight quickly when I am on a "diet" but the thought of being able to eat all the fruits and vegetables that I want really appeals to me.

You will never know until you try it. Try eating raw for a week and see how you feel. If you lose a little weight and feel absolutely wonderful, great do it another week. Before you know it, you will be changing your name.

Hi Want2bRaw!!!
Welcome to the board! :)
I agree with Stacie. Give it a week, see how you feel, and then try another week. If big things don't happen in that first week, don't get discouraged... your body is just getting used to the idea of fantastic Rawesomeness! :D
There's a lot of threads about weight loss and how people feel while they're on Raw. Check out the HOT HOT HOT July challenge to see what I mean!! Feel free to join us too :D

i would say, yes. if you are overweight, then you WILL lose weight on raw foods. just enjoy it! that sounds like a yummy smoothie ;) ive lost weight eating avocados, nuts, flax, oils, lots of fruit.... as much as i feel like whenever i feel like. and i didnt have much to lose either. go for it. you will love it :)

I absolutely cannot gain weight on 100% raw. I have had to drop to like 75% raw by incorporating a few un-raw foods just to try and maintain my weight.
I was making a conscious effort to try and GAIN by eating tons of nuts and other raw foods that are supposed to be more "dense" like banana and avocado...and yup....it felt like I was not only gaining but LOSING more.
Go 100% and I will bet there is no way you are going to gain!

Another vote for try it and see. If you're really overweight I imagine it won't be too hard for you to lose weight unless there's something medically off. I did not lose weight, although I had some to lose. However I didn't gain, either, and I was eating a lot of nuts and coconut oil, etc.
