Does anyone else have a problem with dizziness when 100%? I have this problem everytime accompanied by being jittery frequently also. I have always had problems with low blood pressure and occassionally get a little dizzy when standing but when raw it is severe....I have almost passed out several times. I thought maybe I was getting too much fruit before but this time I am making sure to eat a lot more veggies and it is still happening. If anyone has any idea what this is and if there is anything I can do differently to stop it, I would be greatly appreciative! I am also wondering if is something that will just pass with time.

I am no expert, but well read :)
It seems to me you are either missing some nutrients, or possibly detoxifying.
How long have you been raw?
Also, you said you are getting enough fruit and nuts...how about Grains and Nuts and Calcium?

I started the 30 day challenge last Monday so 7 days at 100% now. I eat plenty of nuts but have had no grains. Could lack of calcium cause this? I had some broccoli one time this week but I'm just not a big fan of it raw. I have been eating tahini pretty much everyday...that's high in calcium, right? Maybe I need to up my greens? I have been slcking in that department for sure.

Yes, I think a lack of calcium could cause this.
Your heart needs calcium. I
think you need to get some calcium supplements for sure.
"Other calcium deficiency symptoms are: slow blood clotting, sluggish circulation, sensitive to moisture, afternoon headaches, dizzy in open air, staggering upon arising, palpatations ascending stairs, varicose veins, icy sensation in spine, hemorrhages, soft bones, cysts, slimy salivation, sores that do not heal, lame ligaments, pus formation, discharges and insomnia. ...and eat some more grains. :)
I had this problem the first few days but then it went away. I think I was drinking so much water that I ended up with a potassium imbalance. But then things kind of evened out.
Hope you feel better soon.

I also experienced this at the beginning and it passed. I dont think you can be calcium deficient in 7 days? Anyways, just wanted to let you know I had experienced that also.

This happened to me after about 30 days of raw. For me, too much fruit and not enough protein seems to be the culprit. I added a lot of sprouts [alfalfa, clover and radish] to my diet and now feel better than I ever have. In moderation I also added soaked oat groats [which I roll], sprouted kamut bread/ crackers, and occassionally sprouted wheat pizza crust, all grounding foods that fill me up without resorting to fruit. I eat about 3 pieces of fruit a day.
Oh! And I finally have a successful system for growing sunflower greens and wheat grass! I had my first sunflower greens today, they are fabulous! Will try the wheat grass tonight.

yes! i had this problem, it is due to a lack of sodium. you can either eat more sea salt or start eating lots of celery, or both. :-)

If you are eating tahini every day, you are getting enough calcium, it only takes 1 tsp of sesame seeds each day for all an adult's calcium needs.
I'm not sure about the sodium, as I don't use salt in anything, and I don't feel dizzy.
Before, when I was trying to go raw, and I was only about 70%, I used to get dizzy about once or twice a month, during ovulation, so this might be it.
A hormone change of some kind, maybe.
I do know that my mom used to say to drink 1 tsp of vinegar if you felt dizzy, as this means you don't have enough acid in your system. So, you might try apple cider vinegar or lemon or lime juice, or some thing like that.

You say you have this problem "everytime". Everytime what? Everytime you go 100%? How long after going 100%? It's possible you need to eat "grounding" foods ~ foods lower ~ or which come from ~ the ground. Also, seeds, nuts, avocadoes, etc. Do you add nutbutters to your smoothies? On bananas or on crackers?
You might get muscle-tested on some of the foods you ARE eating such as ~ tomatoes, strawberries, oranges, almonds, or whatever you eat/crave the most. It could possibly be an allergy or sensitivity.
If none of these suggestions works for you, I'd suggest getting your ears checked although IF this happens everytime you go raw ~ and only then, it's probably not your ears UNLESS a detox is causing an excess of wax build-up. It's possible you've got an imbalance ~ could be something as simple as excess wax build-up ~ get it removed ~ problem solved.
Injoy ~

Yes, everytime I go 100% raw, sorry. It usually begins after being 100% for about a week. I have also been muscle tested and found to be sensitve to oats and corn so I try to avoid those. I do suspect something with my ears though bc I get serious motion sickness anytime I am a passenger in a car. Does ear candleing get rid of excess build up? Would this cause the motion sickness as well?

Wow, thanks everyone for all of the great suggestions! I am going to cut back on the fruit and add some soaked/sprouted grains and see if this helps. I think I get plenty of nuts and salt and actually fear I eat way too much of these things as it is. It is also comforting to know that some of you experienced this in the beginning and it went away.
Thanks so much,
Allison

Yes, it can cause motion sickness. I've done quite a bit of ear-candling. Some say it works, some say it doesn't. If you've got someone to assist you, you can do it yourself at relatively little cost. You might put some warm garlic juice mixed with a bit of olive oil (methinks garlic juice by itself burns too much) and drop it in to dissolve the wax ~ if that's what it is in there.
Also, are you going from say, 90% (give or take) to 100%? Where's the difference? What is it you are dropping? Meats or, just cooked veggies or...?

Good question....I've been on again and off again with raw....in January I did 4 weeks of very high raw (I basically ate 1 cooked meal a week at a Mediterranean restaurant, pita and hummus!). I then went back to cooked vegetarian....my weakness is bread and pasta so I was having a good amount of that. Small amount of dairy here and there. I became vegan cold turkey 6 years ago, was vegan for a year and a half and then flip flopping between vegan and vegetarian ever since with a couple stints of raw mixed in. I do think eating a lot of fruit could very well be my culprit here but I am definitely going to try the garlic/olive oil thing. I dont seem to have an excess of wax but it can't hurt. I have always had issues with dizziness...ever since I can remember and have low blood pressure anyway. I wonder if being high raw is making my blood pressure drop even further? How would I stop that?!!
Thanks for your help, Allison

That would depend on what's causing the low blood pressure. Mine hangs at about 108/68 or so. Part of that stems from not eating often enough. One way you might consider is, eating blood enriching foods. Think reds//oranges and greens. Make sure to keep the pulp in your foods ~ so, blending instead of juicing.

Hello,
I spent three weeks at Hippocrates Institute and had this problem really bad. They gave me an amino acid supplement (some kind of sublingual dropper thingy) and it seemed to help. So... You may need more protein...
Thanks,

Also... I believe celery and mung bean sprouts are a great source of minerals (including calcium). I add celery to my green juice and through lots of mung bean sprouts on my salads...

Thanks guys! I realize that none of you are doctors, I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this and maybe I was eating the wrong foods. Also, all of my doctors know that I have low blood pressure and do not seem concerned by it so I'm obviously not going to get any help there.
I am going to try all of the suggestions here and see if it makes a difference. I have been drinking more water and that actually seems to be really helping....I was reading that dehydration can cause low blood pressure!
Thanks again, I really appreciate the great responses and suggestions!
