I just happened to see this really neat way to remove seeds from a watermelon and still have some large pieces of watermelon to put out:

Marvelous! helen this is realy helpful as I plan on doing a kidney cleanse with the black seeds as soon as SEEDFUL melon come into season here.
Thanks! :)
If the watermelon was small enough to be eaten in two days we cut the whole thing all at once and stored in plastic containers in the fridge. We've found it better not to cut more than can be eaten in two days. Wrap the remainder whole and keep in the refrigerator to be cut later.

Hi Linda,
This technique will probably be beneficial to you then, with the cleanse :)
And Doe,
Thanks for the tip. I know currently I just cut off one slab at a time. Usually the first slab of the day, I take off a very thin slice and toss it. I'm thinking of doing the system in the link above because my grandson is 20 months old and I sit and pick all the seeds out - very time consuming.
I went to my farmers market and one vendor had a watermelon cut opened so I tried it. It actually was good (last year I threw out 75-80% of the watermelons I bought). So I bought one and it was pretty good for not being in season. It was grown in Guatamola and it wasn't organic, but at least I was able to have some watermelon that tasted pretty good.

Why do you want to take out the seeds? This is where the life is. After all, that's why we sprout ... to "release" the living energy. I think maybe we've been "brainwashed" by the produce industry ... seedless grapes, seedless watermelon ... have you heard or read David Wolfe talk about this?
This was actually a new concept to me until recently ... but, once I gave it a bit of thought, it sure does make sense!!

I only buy watermelons with seeds in them (tastes better) but I'm not fond of the seeds so I take them out.

Same here. I'll eat the grape seeds, when I can find grapes with seeds in them!!!! Better yet, it would be nice to find some organic grapes!!!!
