I know this has been probably asked to death but I still do not have it straight in my mind... juices are extracted and have no pulp, which I have read is immediately absorbed and better for you. Green smoothies are blended and still have the pulp (mixed in) which again I have read gives the fiber and is better for you. I do not get that. WHich is best and why? Any ideas please???? I would like to try green smoothies and keep going with them (I have not been able to make one yet that has been that palatable yet but I will keep trying) and yet I am wondering if juices are better for quicker absorption, etc.???? Please help. Thank you!

Juices are better for quick absorption. Green (or any other color) smoothies are good because the body needs fiber. The only time I recommend juicing is when someone is ill and has been for awhile and needs the nutrients and a lot of them FAST AND is willing to do enemas/colonics! For every day, a quart (or more) of green smoothies. The fiber keeps the bowels moving.
For more info on green smoothies check out Victoria Boutenko's book Green For Life and my interview with her on: rawfood.revvell.com.
Palatable smoothies are so easy. Just make a fruit smoothie and add a couple of green leaves (kale or spinach is good). The fruit will mask the taste of the greens.

Thank you. I have made the smoothies that way - but for me, at this point yet, I can taste the green and it is not palatable for me. I hope that as time goes on I will enjoy the taste (like the lady in Alissa's book who did not like veges at first , but grew to love them). I am a bit 'afraid' of colonics as again, I have read they are not necessary in some opinions. Oh well... I will keep trying until I find what works best for me. Thank you for the help.

You're welcome. My bad. Colonics are good if one is fasting. Not just adding juices to their food program where they are still getting enough fiber to keep the bowels happy.

I find bananas to be very good at masking other tastes!

I made a smoothie with banana, little bit of water, and romaine lettuce and I have to say it was tasty! I will add some cinnamon next time.

I do both because I can't decide which one I like best.

I combine both. Some fruits and veggies you can't do anything but juice them. I take the juice and then add organic soy and frozen fruit.
I call it juice smoothies!

I do both. Once I have the juicer set up, which I do as soon as I get up, then I have breakfast of fresh juices for awhile. Then when I feel like having something with more body I move to smoothies using the fresh made juice as a base (juicer is still set up). I like to have the blender set up and ready so that I can juice and then immediately pour the juice into the blender and blend and then drink immediately. After that I juice, blend and eat solid foods as the desire occures. Works for me :)

I do both as well. We're so busy in the morning and have to get out early, that we only juice on Sundays. We make 2 big batches of assorted juice during the day. $ mornings a week I have a big green smoothie. Some days I add spirulina for some extra punch, some days I put a little tahini in. I usually just put one piece of fruit in, often citrus, and sometimes add a peach or nectarine that really wants to be eaten that day. If I add 2 cups of water, the consistency is ok for me. Often I add sprouts as well. It's a wonderful smmothie world! Good luck on your adventure.
