I was wondering if you could aim for one on a raw diet, however mostly fruit?

I was raw for a few days but I had to stop because after a couple of days being raw I seemed to have lost my ab muscles and my arms were not as toned =/
I hardly had any energy in the gym and I stopped halfway through my warmup (ten minute interval run) whats even worse is that I couldnt lift weights I could lift a few days ago so I had to stick to lighter ones, what theis happening and how can I be raw and not get these problems!?

Thank you =]

The "Fruitarian One" seems to do okay: http://fruitarianfitness.com/

Your body will go through an adjustment period when you switch to raw, so it's not strange that it changes. Give it more time.

Alissa is a bodybuilder and there are many athletes who live the "raw food lifestyle" so yes, it's not only possible, it's highly likely. You'll be able to lose the "false" body so many bodybuilders go through so much trouble to eliminate before a contest by starving themselves. You'll have your "true" body 24/7/365 w/out starving.

check out dr doug graham's veg source board (http://www.vegsource.com/talk/raw/index.html).. there are a tonne of ripped raw vegan endurance athletes on there.

you might have felt weak immediately after going raw because of a detoxing reaction. it will pass quickly and you'll be stronger than ever! :)

Like everyone's said, once you go raw there will definitely be days of low energy and not feeling well - it's just detoxing. Some days I would have to lay in bed all day, other days I would (literally) climb ten flights of stairs and clean the house

Thank you for your help, I cant believe you could get so much protein with that amount of fruit! (on the charlies gym site). Yeah I should get use to it but Im just a little worried because I have tennis camp next week, and another two weeks after the following week!

I'm glad you brought up this post. I'm starting back into my raw vegan lifestyle this Friday and will be doing some pretty intense workouts to help speed up the detox process but also get my six pack. My goal is to go from super fat (220 lbs, 23 %BF) to six-pack abs in 16 weeks -- and only on a raw vegan diet. I'll keep you all posted how it goes. :) The truth is that if you want the six-pack, you will need to have a great workout plan but also more importantly a great diet. I'm going to be following the recommendations of the guy who did the site http://www.iwantsixpackabs.com... his pictures are AMAZING and inspirational.

That first link you were given, that is the man to talk to! He has a six-pack and THEN some! LOL! And he's Fruitarian so he eats ONLY fruit (sweet and non-sweet). But one thing he will tell you right off the bat is that, your body WILL have to go through detoxing/cleansing of the old body, muscle, etc. before you can experience the rebuilding of muscle, etc. and get ripped and it's a process. So, try and hang in there...visit his site and check out the articles that he provides and be patient with your body (hard as that may seem) but he's a great person to discuss your goals with, IMHO.

Problem with this guy is that he was already pretty muscular to begin with (maybe you are too). I am not so I will have to build the musle from scratch -- I would like to have a 6pack too, but it might take me a little longer. ;)

I agree--he is pretty muscular to begin with, he just has a lot of fat on top of his body. But you can see he already has decently sized biceps in week 1 and can do 50 pushups in a minute or whatever. Hell I can't do 30 pushups in a minute since I peak out around 20 and then each additional one is painful.

One thing I do remember experiencing while raw (for 30 days) was an increase in the residual strength of my muscles. While I felt I was actually losing muscle along with fat, I also felt that my biceps were stronger for some reason. Maybe that was just in my head.

My hope is that the body will take care of the dropping-fat and adding-muscle components. :)

Amen to Rawkinlocs. That has been my experience 100%. I have been raw for about 2 years now, and no matter how much nut butters, gallon jugs of green smoothies, fatty foods, KING KONG SALADS I would vacuum down etc I wouldn't gain weight (muscle) at all. All it did was slow down the detoxification process. Until I finally caught wind of this and said, Okay, no matter what I do as of now, I will not gain much muscle at all, So let me flow with the tide and help my body detox instead of slowing it down. Lifting weights from my understanding actually slows down the detox, as does fatty foods. However detox is such a personal thing for each body. Catabolic (2 break down) practice will move toxins out of the body faster... The things I did and still do as of now for maintenance
Fasting( usually still do every weekend, and during full and new moons)
Eating Sweet Fruit
Drinking Only Water
Aerobic exercises (body weight exercises)
Cleanses ( 10 liver flushes, 6 colon cleanses, Parasite cleanses)
Dry brushing morning and night
Colon Hydrotherapy ( did this about 3 or 4 times)
Took enzymes and Probiotics (clean clean me)
MSM MSM MSM
Making sure my stomach area get's sunlight ( digestion improving)

Anabolic practices suppress the release of toxins, Anabolic means 2 build up. But remember neither one is more important than the other. They are both needed, and veddy veddy useful when the time is right.

For me, after all that I have done, I'm now at the anabolic phase. I worked hard for it. Detoxing also isn't just physical release as well, it's very connected to the emotions as well, so be PREPARED.

I'm also not coming from a place where I was muscular to begin with, at all. My body type was broad shoulder, stick skinny arms, and a fat gut that stored all my weight. So, it's quite interesting to see how the "false body" drains away lil by lil. It's def a process, not to be discouraging at all, but for me, my experience was... No gain no muscle building until the sink was drained. No matter what I did, nothing. I literally went thru a phase of the old me dying, and now the new me is rebuilding. Again this is just me, if you had muscle to begin with, than maybe your experience will be totally different than mine.

But now I hit the weights, especially for abs. Results seems to be popping up out of nowhere. I still do movements, dancing around, working those abs, bridges, walking. It's def a process. Hang in there. Anyone got questions can also email me... I would be more than happy to help ya with anything.:D But I charge per minute...

Just kidding!!!

So some get results quickly, stomach flattening, losing weight once switching to raw, but I always wonder... Hmm if it happened so quickly, How long will they be able to last, since it was so quick, did they adapt to this lifestyle, or was it just a quick fad for them. So keep that in mind. Again, every body is different.

Just kidding!!!

So wait you guys are suggesting to NOT lift weights until detox is complete? Is running an effective way of speeding up the process? I was thinking running on even days and something intensive for detoxing like hot yoga on odd days.

Thanks for the advice, I was planning to start lifting as soon as I started going raw this weekend.

Do what feels best for you. Live for you.;) But again more Catabolic practices tend to accelerate detox. But if you feel like lifting lift, but if you dont see much gain, then realize your body wants to shed first and not build yet. Try and see.:D

I looked up catabolic but am still confused. Are aerobic exercises catabolic?

Davylp25
07-31-2007, 09:44 PM
Howdy...

Catabolic means to break down. It includes things like:
Fasting
Eating Sweet Fruit
Drinking Green Juices
Drinking Only Water
Herbal Cleanses
AEROBIC EXERCISES
massage
Colon Hydrotherapy
Skin Brushing
Enzymes, Probiotics...

So yep... one of em is Aerobics!! Anything that really makes ya sweat while moving...

So weights while just starting raw is a no-no? No weights, strength building Yoga or anything (but cardio)? How long?

Davylp25
08-01-2007, 09:24 PM
Um... Thats kinda hard 2 say. It's still good for you and all, but it just slows down the detox. Im sure u could do really light weights while doing cardio attached to your wrists or ankles. And the answer for how long, Well, when have you detox'd enuff of the weight off you where you feel like, Okay, I can slow down now?? In your fat cells, toxins and emotional charges, so when you lose enough of that.... It's up to you. But remember if you speed it up, be prepared, and dont think, HOW COME IM NOT FEELING THIS RAW HIGH EVERYONE SPEAKS ABOUT... UM URE DETOXING...remember.
