While away for vacation (a week) I took in lots of cooked foods. I avoided meats but many of my vegetarian dishes were cooked. I'm certain that even the dressings on the salads wouldn't officially qualify as raw. So here's the deal, my ankles now look like those of an elephant. What's going on & what can I do? Will transitioning back to raw relieve this or should I do something else first? Thanks.

Yes, get back on the raw track and your body will begin to address the swelling. Now, I'm no doctor of course. But I got the elephant feet when I decided that I deserved to have some popcorn on my birthday (June 10th)...
My legs and ankles were swollen. I increased my green veggies, limited my fruits to those that are natural diuretics like watermelon. I basically drank a bunch of carrot/parsley/beet juice. These juices are great cleansers and detoxifiers of the blood. Parsley is an EXCELLENT diuretic and it goes well with the other juices since it has a bit of a bite if drank or eaten alone. I also just chopped up parsley in my salads. It took about 3 or 4 days. I don't know about your feet but mine really were monstrous. I think it must be the salt or way too much popcorn...if I was going to eat it I should have popped it myself and then I wouldn't have had to worry about salt, but being hard headed and so that was my lesson.

Oh My! You do understand my situation. My ankles haven't swollen to quite that size but it' good to know how the body will rebel when it doesn't like our intake. You're right on point about the salt. I ate out everyday, every meal of vacation. I'm sure the sodium intake was high. Good word on the juice combo, too. I'll start with that today. Thanks!

Two words: green smoothies.

Start drinking GS's and miraculous healing will take place. Also drink a good amount of water to flush out the gunk. Get back to 100% raw immediately! Get up and move!!!

Watermelon juicing should take care of it. Juice until the water goes back down plus you probably need a good juice fast to get rid of all of those cooked toxins.

I had "Elephantitis" when we went on vacation, too.

It scared me and my feet and ankles hurt alot. I ate cooked and had no salt, so I believe my body was storing the extra water in case I needed it later because we were traveling thru the desert and i was sitting for 12 hours. It was miserable. So glad about this thread. Now I know what to do for it when I resume my travels back to the desert next year.
