I purchased a large bag of jalenpenos the other week and thought i might try to make a patty out of them.
Well i did and i love it so much and "surprise" so does my hubby:)
I take 10-12 jalenpenos and 3-4 sundried tomatoes along with 1/4 cup of olive oil and chop and blend them up real find in my food processor.
I set this aside and then i take a cup of golden flax seed and a small bit of pumpkin seed from the health food store and blend them until they almost looks like flourbut don't over blend, not too much. Then i put them together with enough water to make it all bind and i shape them into meatballs or small patties and put them in my dehydrater for about an hour and a half and then turn them over for another half and hour and they taste so good.
If you like a little more than the usual heat this is the way to go, they will be great when cold weather comes around but i like them now.
I'm having mine with sliced avocadoes and chopped tomatoes and tomato sauce of your choice.
You can dip these if you make them small enough or you make the meatball size.
For lunch or dinner i was thinking of taking some large kale or collard greens leaves and put some sauce on the leaf and sliced avocado and put the small burgers on there and some sprouts, tomatoes and sauce.
This is tops in our kitchen forever:) We like it HOT!!!

I'm going to have to try this. I wonder how the meatballs would be with marinara? m-m-m. We like it hot too! Thanks for the recipe!

Wow, thanks Bethanie! they sound amazing, and we've got tons of Jalapenos in the garden and sundried heirloom tomatoes from last year's garden. My husband grows 11 kinds of hot peppers if you can imagine that, so I'm sure he'll appreciate the recipe too. Shake up the boredom I would say. Have you seen Samuel Wilson's old recipe for jalapeno poppers (I think it was him, it's worth a "banana" for jalapenos if you're buying them by the bag)

Beppa don't laugh but I am going to add corn to these when I make them.

Corn, you say.
I think i will try that and chop in tomatoes, onions and mushrooms too and make a meatloaf and spread it with raw tomato sauce:)
Thanks for the great idea:)

that i add 1/8th cup of nutritional yeast and a tbls. of wheat germ to mine, this is optional but it adds some extra flavor to them.
I just finished eating them and my mouth feels all warm inside and i have a big happy face on:)

Bethanie I'm making these now. I'm just waiting for the FP to come out of the dishwasher, but I've got all the other ingredients assembled.

Is there anything you'd do different if you make them again? Do you know about how much pumpkin seed?

I may substitute for some of the flax, my hubby squawks when you get that slimy flax thing on your teeth. Was the flax noticeable or did it sort of disappear into the burger?

My hubby is the same way when it comes to flax seeds but i can't find a good substition so i use them.
I add about 1/4 th cup pumpkin seeds and then the nutritional yeast and wheat germ but that's optional.

What i'd do is when the time is about up and you turn them i would break off a piece of one and taste test it to see how you like it.
These are great to send hubby off to work with, mine is so picky and i sent him off with them and a dip this morning and he's happy.
They will also be great to take along on my 'run around town trips" which in the past i've usually given into snack food.

I try not to have any noticeable flaxseed but it should not be blended into a powder form.
Hope they turn out good and that you like them.

mmmmm Bethanie..
Thanks for posting, this sound interesting and I do like heat. I can see these patties in some sort of "pita" with other veggies and a cool and creamy sauce to contrast the heat....you've inspired me try these someday soon (fasting right now)

Thanks Bethanie for the tips!

I would like to cook only raw until the end of September so it's good if I can keep the hubby happy.

And we're both "hotheads"

Spicy, bring it on!

I think i will freeze some for later for my hubby to take to work.
He can be difficult at times but he's getting more and more use to taking raw lunches to work.
I just have to be very creative:) and thanks to the folks on this forum it's getting easier to eat RAW.
You can't beat the heat;) ;)
