I'm only on day 21 so I hardly qualify as a mentor. But you will find there are so many kind and generous people here who will answer any question you have. Everyone is so encouraging! PS. You'll be so amazed at how great you feel, that the rest will take care of itself.

Hey welcome! I'm guessing you live in a small town, I don't have any raw restaurants around me either, but I do have a vegan restaurant at least. However, I usually make most of my own food, fresh smoothies in a blender, big salads, dehydrated crackers, etc., there are thousands of recipes to choose from. I believe you really need to read a book or two such as Alissas book, and maybe Green for Life, to really understand what raw food is all about. But, whatever questions you have, just ask, and tons of people here will be more than happy to help you.:)

Aloha and Welcome to RFT joy4aub!!! RAWK ON! I'm so glad you've joined us! I'LL ADOPT YOU!! Head on over to the journaling section where the rest of us keep a record of our journey. It's great - lots of support - and you'll get to read what other people are going thru and how they are coping with all the changes and challenges.
oKay - First of all- I should tell you - I consider myself a 'newbie' to this too. I'm on my 4th month of Raw - I loove the lifestlye and it has been a major blessing in my life!
but to get started ~ I mean if you're truly serious about sucess... may I suggest (if you don't have it already) ~ please get Alissas Book and DVD.
It was the most important step I made when I first decided this lifestyle was for me. Reading her book - watching that DVD -- it was amazing. I learned soo much - she writes in a very easy way - like she's talking right to you. These tools were the single most important thing that allowed me transition into the raw lifestyle successfully -
without them - I KNOW I never would have succeeded. This lifestyle is about so much more than eating salad and carrots... and if you are like me and had no clue --- these tools will bless you too!
I look forward to reading more of your posts - no worries -and dont' be afraid -- (for the lord has not given you the spirit of fear -- but of POWER, and of LOVE, and of a SOUND MIND!) hmmmmm  I think I got that quote right!! ;)
there is A LOT of support here from a LOT of very wise rawbies that have been doing this for a while now!!
blessings! and.... enjoy the ride!

Thanks, For The Replies From Everyone. I Found Alissa's Book At A Health Food Store. It Is A Wonderful Eye Opening Book. I Had Read Two Other Books On Raw Eating But I Can Say Hers Was The Inspiration That I Needed To Confirm That I Was On The Right Path....... Thanks Alissa For A Great Book! I Ordered The Spiral Slicer (came In Yesterday) And The Dehydrator Will Be Coming Soon, I Hope! Should I Go Ahead And Order The Dvd Too? I Hate The Fact That I Did Not Order With The Rest (to Save On Postage Fees).

DEFINITELY order the DVD!! It is sooo worth it. I was soo new to raw foods - I had no clue what the textures were like when you're making raw foods - or how to do any of it. With the DVD - you actually get to see Alissa fixing amazing recipes - that are SOOO EASY.. and it really helped me to SEE how its done... besides the before and after pics of the gals on the DVD - are INCREDIBLE. When I first went raw - I kept remembering those ladies and thinking -- 'those were real women' and they did it and LOOK AT THEM!! WOW... so... if THEY can do it --- THAT MEANS I CAN DO IT TOO!!! just 30 days - that's all... 30 short days ... it really kept me inspired.
and actually - I even took the DVD to work and I would freeze frame that b4 and after photo on my computer and just stare at it!!
yes... definitely get that DVD!! even my husband enjoyed it- and it helped him to understand why I'm doing this and he now gives me his full support - and that's awesome! ;)
