Okay, clipping loose pieces of paper on a clipboard is getting out of control! How do y'all organize your raw recipes?

I got myself a nice folder with plastic inserts and designed it like a book. It has colored divideres for the different sections that are categorised into: Entree's & Meals, Appetisers & Sides, Wraps & Sandwiches, Soups & Salads, Dressings Dips & Sauces, Drinks & Smoothies, and Desserts & Ice Creams!

Every time I make a new recipe I print it out and add it to the book along with a picture of the finished product. This way my book is always growing and it's full of the recipes I want & use most!

All the pages are in plastic inserts so I can touch them with sticky hands while i'm in the kitchen making the recipes, and I can just wipe the pages off when i'm done if they get messy! It works really well too because my book lays flat open and makes it easy to see the recipe i'm making! I am going to publish a book just like this but much better quality and new recipe pages will be able to be bought on my site so the book will always grow as much as you need it to! It will be your own custom book when you buy it also because you can just check off the recipes you want in it and I will put them in the right places! It's an idea i've been working on for awhile now! I'm really exited! But you can make it at home just as easy yourself and have a lot of fun with the design & artwork!

Recipe Center 5.2! I downloaded this on-line, it's a freeware program that runs on most Windows platforms.

AND I LOVE IT! :D

The best thing I did. I have 2 binders overflowing with recipes and countless word documents with pictures pasted in and arg, it was a mess.

It takes a bit of time to transfer all the recipes in but now that I'm 2/3 done, I can't believe I went without such a genius database before.

Organizationally, I couldn't have done much better myself!

RVM - By the way, that binder looks awesome! Easier to have a hardcopy for in the kitchen for sure!

I'm really glad you asked! I have been printing recipes off that look interesting, but then it gets all messed up putting them into my Kitchen Drawer. You know, the Kitchen Drawer that tends to hold all the old birthday candles, bottle lids, that kind of stuff. Have been wondering what to do!

Love the idea of getting it all organized, especially since there was a recipe I lost before even trying it (the un-steak fajitas) but fortunately I found it again. :)

What great ideas . . .

I have a recipe box that someone gave me. If I happen to have something that is on a recipe card size, I will put it in there. That doesn't happen very often. I also have a three ring binder that I put some recipes in. But more often than not, the recipes I use are something I got off the Internet. In which case I'll either print off the page, or more likely, use a teensy scrap of paper and scribble off the recipe using my own abbreviations. I then toss the paper in the trash. Usually once I've made a recipe a couple of times, I no longer need the recipe. I just know how to make it. Unless it's something really complicated.

Stina,

I'm on a Mac and I use Text Edit to copy and paste them and then save them on my computer in a file called Raw Recipes. Then every once in awhile I print off a bunch I want to try and keep them in a binder in the kitchen and check off the ones I've made with a checkmark.

There's something I love about having a fat, overstuffed recipe book with papers all different sizes falling out all over the place. I just like it that way. So I'm not going to organize any time soon. :D

P.S. I also really love it when the recipes have food stains on them. Bonus!!!

You're funny! Yeah, I'm kinda of proud of how my Living on Live Food book is pretty beat up and food stained too!

Stina--had to laugh. Knew my copy was not the only disaster area of very loved recipe making.

Lots of great ideas--thanks all. I have such a huge pile to put in binders. Have a great habit of writing the date and my comments whenever I make a recipe. Also include any changes I've made (always to suit my taste).

I have a plastic index card box. I print or copy and paste and resize recipes then print them and cut them and glue or tape them to an index card and put them in my little recipe box. That way if I try something and I end up not liking it, I just throw out the card or put a different recipe on the back of it.

I use a shareware software program called NYC (Now You're Cooking). I have a few minor complaints related to length of fields but overall I like it very much. I especially like begin able to "rate" a recipe and indicate who has tested it and how they liked it as well. The categories are also helpful--and you can edit the category list so you can have "raw" "vegan" "fruit" "veggie" "nuts" "seeds" instead of (or in addition to) "meat" "seafood" ....

I also like the binder idea! Great for in the kitchen and also great when wanting to take to a class or group meeting to give participants ideas about what is possible in raw cooking! ummm....the wheels they are a turning now...!!!
