I am new to RAW and have a lot of enthusiasm, but I have a history of getting excited about something new and then losing interest.

I can buy a small round Nesco Dehydrator for under $50 at WalMart. Or for $100 buy a tray type Excalibur. It seems the small one would work ok for chips, dried fruits, etc. But for Onion Bread or desserts it seems one would need the larger rectanular tray. And those are the foods I need to get into rather than snacks like dried fruits, etc.

Please tell me what you know and recommend about Dehydrators. THANKS!

Excalibur 9-tray, always!!!! Go for the best, top quality. You can pull out trays for larger items and still have trays for crackers and dried fruit. IF you want to warm something (IF you're still doing cooked), stick in the D rather than heating up the oven. Purchasing top quality assists in making a commitment.

You can always put it on Craigslist (or even here!) if you don't want it.

I would buy the excalibur. I have the five tray and I love it. I live in a apt so the 9 tray would have been to big for me. The cheapest I found it for was 140 @ sam's health.com
This is the cheapest I found on the internet, and I did extensive searching.
Best wishes in your journey...

styersky,

Excalibur all the way. I have the 9 tray with timer and just got it over a week ago. It's been going non-stop and it's great. Worth the investment and you will come up with so many different ways to use it too.
