buckwheat though technically not a grain (and it's gluten free) is very easy to work with. You can just soak it and you don't even have to sprout it, or you can sprout it for a day. Quinoa is also very easy in that it sprouts in a day.

Thank you. This is something that i haven't tried yet since being raw. I would like to experiment with that. I thought it was too complicated to do, but i will give a try.
Blessings to both of you!

When you start sprouting can it be just regular organic grains or does it have to be a special kind like a "sprouting grain"? I'm not sure if that makes sense. Does anyone understand what I am asking?

Just to upset the packagers of sprout seeds, I never use them. I sprout all of my beans, lentils and grains from standard organic packs found in a busy healthfood store. I suppose that if the shop was not busy, it might not work as the 'seeds' would be old.
I have had great success and perfect germination from the following: green lentils, black lentils, brown lentils, blonde lentils, mung beans, adzuki beans, wheat, spelt, buckwheat, turtle beans and cress.
I hope that helps.

Thanks a Billion.. I thought I had to buy sprout seeds, now I know I can just use any organic bean.

This may seem like a very silly question, but I tried a raw hummus recipe which required me to use garbanzo beans, sprouted for one day...once they begin to sprout do I throw the whole bean, plus whatever has grown into the fp or do I just remove the sprouts and use those? I tried using the whole bean and the hummus was terrible (it hadn't sprouted yet, so that could have been the problem as well).
Does anyone has a good raw hummus recipe with garbanzos in it? I love garbanzos, but this hummus was very bitter! Does sprouting help with this bitterness??

You put them in the jar and you soak them. It varies, basically, depending on the hardness of the seeds. One days are still good. 3 days are the most powerful. 7 days are the best for juicing.
