Decided to try these for the first time. Anyone have ideas on what to do with them? I don't have a dehydrator. Maybe a fig pudding.

Fabulous Fig Balsamic Dressing (I am grateful cookbook)
10 soaked black mission figs (2 hr reserve water)
1/3 c balsamic vinigar
1 c olive oil
1/2n t jalapeno (finely chopped w/seeds)
1 t salt
1 t lemon juice
1/4 t black pepper

I have been wanting to try this. If you don't want to use balsamic, you could probably use apple if you added some agave to compensate.

Let me know if it's good!!

Beppa66, thanks.

Made a simple pudding that is way better tasting than I thought it would be.

Peach Fig Pudding
1 Peach
1 1/2 Figs
Blend.

To me it's the perfect sweetness, but you can add agave, dates or other fruit. Next I'll try them with kiwi.

On their own figs are very strange. Kind of like a fungi. They're healthy though (see link below) & a great way to thicken up a recipe without adding fats.

I think they taste awful by themselves. Barely any flavor & mushroom-like.

GG, you didn't get good figs then.

Seriously, figs are amazing. Maybe they're imported and didn't ripen properly and got shipped for a long time, etc...

don't give up, a really ripe good fresh fig is amazing.

They don't taste spoiled or anything. They're organic brown turkey figs from California.

Figs taste like powdered sugar to me! I love 'em. I've never made any recipes with them, though. I just eat them alone.
