I eat mostly fruits, veggies and nuts. I know people do raw oats, buckwheat and granola...but I haven't tried it yet. Do you think I really need to incorporate it? Thanks!

No, you don't have to if you choose not to.

Might want to listen to Rawkinradio #17 - they talk about this very subject in the second or third segment. ~ Cathy

Must be. I don't either and you KNOW if I don't ... or do... but then, maybe you don't. :D

Nah, I don't eat any grains. If you really want to eat grains, I suppose you could sprout them.

But remember how our ancestors must've eaten for millions of years. Our bodies are evolved to eat as they did. Now, if you imagine yourself walking around hungry, eating only what you yourself can find in nature, and you come across an orchard full of ripe apples, oranges, peaches, pears, and such... HURRAH! It's time to feast!

On the other hand, if you're ravenously hungry and you come across a field of ripe wheat... what then? You'd starve!

There are a few books out about grains being bad for us, but I haven't read any of them. I think one of them is called Grain Damage.

I eat very few grains and no gluten at all (wheat, oats, etc). If I make crackers, breads, etc, they are vegetable, seed and/or nut based. I even make a grain-free, raw granola.

IF I make something with non-gluten grains (and I only did it once) we sprout them first.

I would love the recipe for the grain-free granola! I do not do well on grains, esp. gluten. I have not read Grain Damage but Joseph Mercola also has a book, the No-Grain Diet which is interesting.

Ill PM you with it later :) I got it from a book called Rawsome.

I personally use grains (grawnola, raw oatmeal, oatmeal cookies, and a few other dishes) and have no problems with them but I know that not everyone can. They're not mandatory as a part of one's diet (although in the cooked food arena they would have you to believe as such for fiber, but you can get that from eating fruit, veggies and drinking green smoothies or smoothies period), but keep in mind that you can use sprouted buckwheat as it is not technically a grain.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's Personal Message and, unless something's changed, that's not a valid function here. Cherie?

Yeah, the PM feature is disabled however, if the member has their email address available in the profile for others to email them, then Barose can email her the recipe.

Nope, I don't. You don't "need" to if you don't feel like it.

No grains here...I am allergic to most. I make all my crackers from seeds and nuts as well.

I recently ate some corn, but it's not a big part of my diet.

A couple of weeks ago, I was talking about the new lot where the church is going to move to with one of the church leaders, and after church some people were eating corn on the cob. I overheard him say something. "¿Qué pasó con el lote?" I asked.

"¡No el lote, elote!" he answered. ;) ("Elote" is either "cob" or "ear", I'm not sure which.)

I like corn juiced. It goes through my Champion juicer nicely. I cut the corn off the cob in long strips cutting as close to the cobb as possible and then feed it into the juicer. Its delicious.

If you wanted to could incorrporate raw wheat germ into your salads, but I doubt it is neccesary.

I as well wondered if they were necessary because my diet is like yours - fruit, veggies, and nuts. I don't eat them and I don't think we NEED to. There are no vital nutrients present in grains, from what I know.
