5 bananas (ack!!)
cup of frozen rasberries, blackberries and strawberries
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
3 tomatoes
1 1/2 avacados
1/3 cup of cherries

I wasn't home to make a green smoothie... :(

I just feel bad because it is my 5th day being raw and I am working on losing some weight...

That doesn't sound like too much to me!

Also, remember that you're just starting out with raw so you need to EAT, so you can stay satiated. And, most of what you ate was fruit and veg and not mostly fat. I think it's fine and you shouldn't feel badly about it at all especially if you do not feel physically bad.

I don't see anything wrong with what you have eaten so far today! If you are eating because you are hungry and you seem to be eating all raw - what is the problem???

The only question I have is how in the world did you eat 5 bananas in 1 day? :p If I eat more than one banana in a day my stomach is so bloated!:)
I love bananas so I applaud you!!!

I guess just because I am trying to lose weight and it seemed like way too many calories.

I did hike for about 2 1/2 hours though...and sweat A LOT.

One for breakfast, one during a hike, one after a hike and then two that were frozen blended with some cherries (ooh baby that was good!).

I've always heard that one of the keys to losing weight is to eat many small meals throughout the day. I honestly don't think that you have to worry about it unless you were eating massive, MASSIVE amounts of fat. But again, your menu for the day looks fine.

Goingtoraw - some raw fooders have downed way more bananas in one sitting than that! :) I personally couldn't do it...after about 2 I'm feeling full but when one moreso mono eats (one type of food per meal) then it's easy to do I guess, especially if you do it after working out (so I've heard) or you're just hungry!

All I have felt like eating this entire day is about 1/2 of a canteloupe, a few nuts and 1/2 of a large raw snack cracker I got from my favorite raw food restaurant....and drink lots of water. I am completely satisfied and right now I feel like I could not eat another thing today.

There are different raw diets out there and some eat 6-8 oranges or 12 bananas in one sitting!

tried it for like a week and went back to my smoothies

It does not look like you ate much at all. You need more fruit.

I don't see anything wrong with that at all...

The neat thing about Raw is that you don't really have to worry so much about calories... some people need to worry about fat, but I think your intake for the day is great.

WHen I first when raw, I ate everything (raw) in sight. As your body calms down and become accustomed, you'll probably eat less.

:D

Girl, those nanas and avos are NOT gonna prevent your weight loss or make you obese. Don't stress over it...stress is NOT good. Enjoy eating raw and if your body needs to eat, feed it. It could be that your body NEEDED those nutrients that you took in today. Try not to make this like all other diet plans out there. You will lose the weight but don't be so hard on yourself like this as it's counterproductive.

What you ate sounds pretty much like my breakfast and lunch. :D Not 5 bananas, but one with almond butter and honey. I haven't even had dinner yet.

One thing I liked about what Alissa said on her dvd and in her book is not to worry about what you are eating, if it is raw. No counting calories here. Yippee. Listen to your body. I remember reading, too that people stress about the fat in an avo when before they might eat pancakes and bacon and a Big Mac during the day. What you are eating is really feeding your body. That's a good thing.

haha compared to what i ate today, your intake looks like a tiny snack. don't worry about it! the worry will only make you feel down about yourself or stressed, and who needs that?

p.s. tisha, that banana with almond butter and honey sounds sooooo yummy!

that many bananas makes me constipated. just thought you all would like to know:p

I think your food sounds fine...maybe up the greens. Don't make yourself crazy over something that is not a problem. That is the beauty of raw..if you are hungry...eat!!

As for the constipating factor of tooo many bananas....bananas that are underripe contain more starch and are constipating and harder to digest. Very ripe bananas have a higher sugar content and do not often have that effect...just my experience.

I'd say relax and pat yourself on the back for having a raw day!:)

you're still under 1500 calories, and you probably burned at least 800 depending on how strenuous that hike was so chill out baby. Most people do a mile in 15 minutes of average walking so that hike was probably at least 10 miles.

You will maybe put together a balanced day that you're happy with eventually, but when you cut out bread, and lots of other crap, and eat unprocessed whole foods, it's amazing how there's room for nuts, seeds, avos, while still having a low total cals.

Often gorging on veggies throughout the day can max out at about 300 cals for all the veggies, so you can add fruits nuts avos or some grains or treats to that, even a little healthy oil in your salad dressing or whatever and still be in a good range.

We're trained to be paranoid of nuts, avocadoes as fattening, these are very healthy foods and our bodies do need some fats. All the empty starchy calories gone or greasy meats gone leaves a heck of a lot of room for good nutritious food.

Lighten up! In more ways than one!!

Great nutrition that day, and really healthful exercise.

BTW, I don't think you need more fruit than the 6 servings you ate, so my opinion differs from Stacie's, but everyone does what works for them.

Add a mango and a few teaspoons of almond buttr to that. :)

LOL, you're still fine. My rough guess is you probably ate 700-900 net calories when you subtract out that exercise, and that is still a recipe for losing weight. LOL I thought you needed some "orange" in that day for your vitamins and a little more vitamin C.

You might notice that you crave a little more food when you exercise a lot, so are you over it now?:p

I am over it, but I had to weigh myself first this morning to see that I didn't gain 5 lbs like I thought I did. I know it shouldn't be that way...but I have been overdoing the nuts recently (not so much yesterday)...and I want to try to be a little more careful. I LOVE avacados though! I could mash them up with olive oil, lemon and salt and eat them one after another...wouldn't do that though. :)

The only way I can ever stand to eat more than one banana is to drizzle them with honey and sprinkle cinnamon on top, yum!

I have a question about calories. I don't count calories since eating raw but I'm curious about something. If you eat a lot of dehydrated foods will that hinder weight loss? I have been dying to make some onion bread and potato chips in the dehydrator that has been sitting in my kitchen unused for almost a year. :p

been lurking on this site for months, and from everything I've read (including Alissa's book) the most important thing initially is to get and STAY raw. So, goal one accomplished for you! Also, Alissa talks/writes in her book about how people are surprised at how much she has them eat in the first month or so. When I start to panic (which is surprisingly often), I go grab her book and read a few chapters.

Eating habits, as far as I'm concerned, are just about the hardest area of life in which to make permanent changes. So ENJOY what you've eaten! I have lost weight on days where I ate little more than guacamole. :)
